Contributor License Agreement (Individual)

Thank you for contributing to hardware_monitor_cpp (the "Project"), maintained by idimus (the "Owner"). To keep the Project sustainable, it is dual-licensed: free for noncommercial use and sold under a separate commercial license (see LICENSING.md). For the Owner to offer both, every contribution must come with the rights below.

By submitting a contribution (a pull request, patch, or any code, documentation, or other material - a "Contribution") to the Project, you agree to the following. If you are contributing on behalf of a company, you confirm you are authorized to bind it, and "you" means that entity.

1. Copyright license

You grant the Owner a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable copyright license to reproduce, prepare derivative works of, publicly display, publicly perform, sublicense, and distribute your Contribution and such derivative works.

2. Right to relicense (dual licensing)

You agree the Owner may license your Contribution, and the Project as a whole, under any terms the Owner chooses - including the PolyForm Noncommercial license, a paid commercial license, or other proprietary or open-source terms. This right is the reason the Project can be offered both free for noncommercial use and commercially.

3. Patent license

You grant the Owner and recipients of the software a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, irrevocable patent license to make, use, sell, offer to sell, import, and otherwise transfer your Contribution, for patent claims you can license that are necessarily infringed by your Contribution alone or combined with the Project.

4. You retain ownership

You keep all right, title, and interest in your Contribution. This agreement is a license, not an assignment - you may use your Contribution for any other purpose.

5. Your representations

You represent that:

  • each Contribution is your original work, or you have the right to submit it under this CLA;
  • your Contribution does not knowingly include third-party code under terms incompatible with the Project's licensing, and you identify any third-party material and its license in the Contribution;
  • to your knowledge, your Contribution does not violate any third party's rights;
  • if your employer has rights to work you create, you have permission to contribute, or your employer has waived such rights for the Project.

6. No obligation; no warranty

You understand the Owner is not obligated to use or merge your Contribution. Except for the licenses granted here, the Contribution is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, to the extent permitted by law.

How to accept: opening a pull request against this repository constitutes acceptance of this CLA for the Contribution(s) in it. The maintainer may also ask you to confirm acceptance in the pull request.
