About me

Kia ora! I'm Zoe. I'm a programmer, and, at times, an amateur artist for the purposes of my creations. At the moment, my plans are to develop mods for Hytale for players to enjoy. My biggest goal is a project called 'Te Whenua o Aotearoa' - eventually, I aim to create a whole new zone for Hytale to represent native Aotearoa New Zealand, the country I call home.

The project is slightly anachronistic, but aims to reflect the native flora and fauna of Aotearoa before human arrival (by Māori), as well as aspects of Māori culture from their arrival in Aotearoa up to shortly after the arrival of pākehā (Europeans) and their tools used to create carved wharenui.

In addition, I will likely eventually create - or have created, we'll see if I remember to update this page haha - other Hytale mods (whether they be plugins, asset packs, data packs, or, like Te Whenua o Aotearoa, a combination). You can check out my GitHub profile to see what I'm working on!

Why is sponsorship important to me?

While I was formerly employed as an Embedded Engineer, unfortunately my financial situation took a sudden change when I unexpectedly developed ME/CFS - a.k.a. chronic fatigue - which is likened to waking up after a full night's rest only with the energy of someone who hasn't slept for 72 hours. While I had been able to manage both work and study up to that point, despite dealing with my ADHD and requiring mobility aids for my hypermobile Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS) and Functional Neurological Disorder (FND), ME/CFS has destroyed my ability to work or study with the consistency required to hold even a part-time job or study for just a few hours per week.

While I remain hopeful that my condition will improve, the reality is that I'm doing all I can at the moment. Disability benefits provide me with just under half of full-time minimum wage, which is not a livable wage for me. I unfortunately have to frequently skip meals to afford household bills, with around 4 1/2 days worth of food having to cover a 7 day week. The lack of appropriate food further limits the very limited energy my body can produce and maintain with ME/CFS.

Your sponsorship will help me afford a little extra food each week, which will be tremendously helpful for my condition. Hopefully the boost from a little extra energy from that food will allow me to spend more energy working on creations for you to enjoy! And if/when I do have food covered, your donation will allow me to access more tools to help make daily life a little easier while I am affected by ME/CFS.
