About Code on the Go

Professional-strength development tools for Android have always assumed a powerful workstation on one end and a phone on the other. Code on the Go (CoGo™) removes that assumption.

Our mission is to empower people to build the apps that they and their communities want and need using the devices they already own: Android phones. Because reliable internet access isn’t always available or affordable globally, CoGo is designed to operate offline.

Code on the Go offers what you’d expect from a desktop IDE, engineered specifically for mobile hardware:

• Full language support: Complete Java and Kotlin integration, including smart autocomplete and real-time diagnostics.
• On-device debugging: A robust debugger that runs both the IDE and the app being tested simultaneously on the same phone.

Solving the small-screen challenge

An ongoing challenge for CoGo is making it easier to write code on a small screen with a soft keyboard. One of our most exciting efforts in this area is our Sketch to UI feature, which uses on-device processing to convert a photo of a hand-drawn screen layout directly to Android XML.
