From 5867ca69592b59c9c9a1780f651984a809e48664 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Brennan Benson <79079362+brennanb2025@users.noreply.github.com> Date: Wed, 30 Sep 2026 18:38:18 -0700 Subject: [PATCH 1/4] feat(source-control): start the AI buttons' agents through agent.launch The desktop's source-control AI buttons (Fix checks, Resolve conflicts, commit/push-failure recovery, Explain commit) opened a tab themselves and pasted their generated prompt. They now ask the host's agent.launch, which step 1 (#24257) taught to keep a long prompt off the launch line and paste it after readiness. The buttons record where their tab goes under every id the tab can arrive as, so the host's terminal reveal and the session-tabs mirror put the terminal or chat in the split the button was used from; an empty target group is kept until its tab arrives; a lost reply is replayed under the same operation id; and a prompt the host could not deliver shows a notice with Copy prompt. Rebuilt on step 1; the combined tree is identical to f564d7a8ea7 (backup/23748-pre-split). --- ...urceControlAgentActionStart-hosted.test.ts | 142 +++++ .../runSourceControlAgentActionStart.ts | 80 The reveal forced focus, so a user who had switched to another workspace or an app view in that gap was pulled back to the launching one. It now follows #23974's rule for finished creates: still on the workspace, the tab is placed and focused as before; moved on, the tab joins its reserved group without switching workspaces, mounts in the background, and a toast offers Go to, which opens the workspace and focuses the tab. The in-view check and the Go-to toast are #23974's, shared rather than copied. --- .../terminal-presentation-ipc-bridge.ts | 18 ++- .../terminal-presentation-reservation.test.ts | 88 +++++++++++--- src/renderer/src/i18n/locales/en.json | 5 + src/renderer/src/i18n/locales/es.json | 5 + src/renderer/src/i18n/locales/fr.json | 5 + src/renderer/src/i18n/locales/ja.json | 5 + src/renderer/src/i18n/locales/ko.json | 5 + src/renderer/src/i18n/locales/zh.json | 5 + ...nt-launch-started-elsewhere-notice.test.ts | 113 ++++++++++++++++++ .../agent-launch-started-elsewhere-notice.ts | 30 +++++ .../src/lib/agent-launch-tab-placement.ts | 7 +- .../src/lib/agent-launch-tab-reservations.ts | 12 +- .../lib/source-control-agent-launch.test.ts | 51 +++++++- .../src/lib/source-control-agent-launch.ts | 19 ++- .../src/lib/workspace-go-to-toast.tsx | 54 +++++++++ .../src/lib/workspace-terminal-view.ts | 15 +++ .../src/lib/worktree-creation-flow-execute.ts | 9 +- .../src/lib/worktree-creation-ready-toast.tsx | 63 +++------- 18 files changed, 432 insertions(+), 77 deletions(-) create mode 100644 src/renderer/src/lib/agent-launch-started-elsewhere-notice.test.ts create mode 100644 src/renderer/src/lib/agent-launch-started-elsewhere-notice.ts create mode 100644 src/renderer/src/lib/workspace-go-to-toast.tsx create mode 100644 src/renderer/src/lib/workspace-terminal-view.ts diff --git a/src/renderer/src/hooks/ipc-events/terminal-presentation-ipc-bridge.ts b/src/renderer/src/hooks/ipc-events/terminal-presentation-ipc-bridge.ts index 2bb4b37b7398..90dbd63b988b 100644 --- a/src/renderer/src/hooks/ipc-events/terminal-presentation-ipc-bridge.ts +++ b/src/renderer/src/hooks/ipc-events/terminal-presentation-ipc-bridge.ts @@ -12,6 +12,7 @@ import { isNativeChatTranscriptLocalReadable } from '@/lib/native-chat-transcrip import { tryMakePaneKey } from './agent-status-routing' import { claimAgentLaunchTabReservation } from '@/lib/agent-launch-tab-reservations' import { persistAgentLaunchTabOrder } from '@/lib/launch-agent-tab-order' +import { isWorkspaceInTerminalView } from '@/lib/workspace-terminal-view' import { useAppStore } from '../../store' import { activateExistingLeafInLayout, @@ -55,8 +56,13 @@ export function registerTerminalPresentationIpcBridge(unsubs: (() => void)[]): v ? claimAgentLaunchTabReservation(tabId, worktreeId) : null const reservation = claim?.reservation ?? null + // Why: a user who left the launching workspace keeps their place (#9944); the launcher + // offers a way back instead. + const reservationInView = reservation !== null && isWorkspaceInTerminalView(worktreeId) const terminalPresentation = reservation - ?
