What happened?

Hey thanks for the update, it has worked for the most part. One folder is still not portable though, the Documents\StemDeck one is still being created on startup. This contains a user-data.json file and an empty folder. Would you mind making this portable too please. Thanks.

EDIT: I noticed theres a setting for this location but all efforts to change it are blocked. I then tested a track and it was separated. The data is stored in the C docs folder. I closed StemDeck, moved the data to the portable folder, restarted, and the jobs folder and the user-dat.json file are ignored. It is still hardcoded to the system folder. I can even see the name of the path I changed the logs to in the settings file, but the settings window still uses the system folder.

@sl2365 Thanks again for the detailed report, it made this easy to track down properly.

Both parts are now fixed:

user-data.json not following a relocation. This was living in the jobs folder's parent, which never moved when you relocated stems via Settings, only the audio did. It now lives inside the jobs folder itself, so a relocation carries it along automatically.

The jobs location setting not sticking after a restart. I traced this to the actual root cause: the relocation endpoint moves the files, then writes the new path to settings.json as a separate step, and that write was failing silently. The physical move worked, and the app reported success, but the choice never actually landed on disk, so a restart fell back to the old default. StemDeck now checks whether that write actually succeeded and tells you plainly if it didn't, instead of a false success.

Both fixes will ship in the next release. I'd appreciate you testing the relocation again once it's out, especially on your original setup, to confirm it holds across a restart this time.

Relocation works, but the folder is still created despite the relocation. I deleted it after exiting the app, moved the content to the portable folder and it was recreated in User\Documents but empty. So to be clear, on start up in a portable situation, it creates Users\Documents\StemDeck\Jobs

The folder is empty, even after performing a separation of a local file. So it was essentially a success. However, it would be nice to keep things clean if you don't mind making sure the folder is not created if installed portably.
