making the TUI have sorting by date added/ date modified

a keabind to sort playlist files in date modified (old to new / new to old) with a keabind maybe maybe tyty

Sort options are currently not configurable in any component we have.
All components that have a list that is not the playlist or displaying a online result are alphanumerically sorted.
Playlist is practically unsorted, only appending at the end currently or manually modifying the order.
Online results are displayed as we get them.

If i understand your request correctly, you want to be able to sort the current playlist by modified date and have that be the play order?

Modified date is not a metadata of tracks. Does it make sense to sort it in termusic? Thanks.

No that would be a sort, a one-time action, regardless of "LoopMode".

Just to confirm, with modified date, you mean the file's modified date? (we currently dont store or retrieve this information)
And for date added, would be "date added / first seen for library" be enough? (we already have this information)

and i mean maybe maybe there world be a sort feature here like
-alphabetical order
-date added (oldest to newest)
-date added (newest to oldest)
-duration (descending)
-duration (ascending)

I thought about it a bit, and we do still need a updated_at field in the database for knowing whether to update a track's metadata from disk or not. Would that be enough for the date modified sort? Because i think fetching that from disk for all tracks (think 1000+) would be rather slow.
