Hi, thanks for this wonderful keyboard! It seems like my personal wishlist regarding keyboards has decided to come true all at the same time!

I use it as my daily driver now, since the first time I saw it on F-Droid!

Just a few requests:

1. An encrypted clipboard would be very much nice to have.
2. Like others have pointed out, typing words in browsers with autocomplete/ dictionary is still a pain. Because both incomplete and complete words appear in browser's URL bar. I know you're aware of it and working on that. Sorry if that repeated mention of the same issue annoyed you. I'm just super-excited about this keyboard.

Proposed Solution

1. For the encrypted clipboard: So far as I know, currently-open-app and android system processes all have access to entirety of clipboard. I don't know how it'd be possible to bypass that, but if somehow it could be done, like with a Ctrl+long press C copies the text into an encrypted form and Ctrl + long press V pastes it in unencrypted form (or better yet, using a fingerprint as a fast alternative) then it'd be great!!! I asked for long press because they're currently not functional for anything except repeated letter appearance. But frankly its all up to you.

Alternative Solutions

Using KeepPassDX to a degree solves this, but that's an entire different, specific use case of credential input.

Really nice to read that feedback- I feel the same way of course ;) but yes this has been quite the Unexpected side hobby... and I apologize for leaving certain bugs in the wild for so long (re: url typing in particular)

Encrypted clipboard has been on the imminent to-do slash wish list since essentially day one. Maybe others can chime in on this ticket if they have helpful architecture suggestions / experience. As you alluded, there are certainly some nuances to work out.

I've got a lot of meaningful upgrades loaded in dev but have been stuck on attempting to overhaul/upgrade the stock dictionary as part of a recent autocorrect rearchitecture. Capturing abbreviations, slang, and common proper nouns without simultaneously capturing typos is a bit tricky, it turns out. Anyway just wanted to give an update and say 👍

Regarding the encrypted clipboard, I thought about it again, and here are 2 approaches off the top of my head; neither is perfect, but just a suggestion:

1. A context menu when we long-press on a text, where select / cut / copy / paste / select-all appears...if its possible for a cleverkeys option to appear there, that'll directly send the selected text inside the encrypted clipboard, then I guess the OS too, won't see it, ever. But I don't know if its possible for this option to appear everywhere.
2. Failing which, maybe copying a block of text gets copied into cleverkeys clipboard, where it gets encrypted, and the encrypted text is copied again automatically, so that the OS knows about unenecrypted text for only a short period of time. Again, that approach has obvious flaws, not the least of which is the fact that I don't know if the OS keeps a Log of copied texts somewhere for itself. So that it has access to a litany of copied texts and not just the latest one.

There's another keyboard that I came across, (it launched later than cleverkeys) called Urik keyboard . I don't use it l since its not that feature rich and back then, was only a relatively preliminary release, but it does list an option called "Clipboard history with encrypted storage".

But that too, says it only about "storage", not whether the OS knows about the clipboard contents in plaintext...But I don't know what's-what here, maybe you can take a look if it seems helpful.

Again, many thanks for this update - and you really don't have to apologize for anything. This Cleverkeys is clever enough already to throw a kitchen full of syncs at every other Keyboard app! Anything more serious and it'll have an unbreakable, post-quantum encrypted clipboard and typing experience through direct mind-reading-intents!!! 🤣
