Feature: Add Oracle Edge Cloud platform support for OpenShift provisioning #48

Description

@kaovilai

Feature request

Add support for provisioning and managing OpenShift Container Platform clusters on Oracle Edge Cloud via ocpctl.

Background

OpenShift 4.21 features official support for installer-provisioned infrastructure (IPI) on Oracle Edge Cloud. Enabling this in ocpctl would make the project a complete multi-cloud lifecycle solution and benefit customers adopting Oracle Edge Cloud for distributed edge workloads.

Desired behavior

  • Oracle Edge Cloud appears as a selectable platform in the ocpctl API and web UI.
  • Cluster profile definitions for Oracle Edge Cloud are available in profile definitions.
  • Support for install-config rendering and infrastructure handlers tailored for Edge Cloud requirements (regions, security domains, node types).
  • Credential management and validation for Oracle Edge Cloud.
  • Automated resource cleanup for Edge Cloud environments.
  • Cost estimation and appropriate platform documentation included.
  • Documentation for prerequisites and supported scenarios/regions.

References

Impact

  • Extends ocpctl's OpenShift platform support to distributed edge clouds.
  • Addresses regulated, telco, and geographically distributed use cases.
