Search Page: No Search Results Prompt

If search returned no results – do a modal popup with no results found “please change your criteria to expand your search” with a dismiss box – that would not remove all filters

Why are there still search results loaded in the background if "nothing" was returned?

Some searches with no results clear out the background data with the pop-up, some do not - consistency issue? (i.e. Iceland w/conference deselected vs. Antarctica). We also have strange results popping up on some locational searches that follow other searches (i.e. Sudan didn't display correctly after other searches were performed [Iceland, Antarctica, and the use of the "reset" button], and I had to completely reload the page to obtain correct results).
