I'm following the project, and would like to try vdesk.
I run antiX (running IceWM currently), and I think I have all of the dependencies available.
I was originally just trying to use your weather script (I want a memory/cpu efficient tray icon with an icon that shows both conditions graphically, as well as the current temperature), and have a modified version of it running, but would like try try the entire setup once I understand how to get it installed and configured. I have an extra test test machine I could dedicate to running it, and if I could get that running, I could help with testing.
