Procedure should Wayback Machine being unable to archive certain URLs

At the moment, Facebook seems to be blocking online archival services i.e. Wayback Machine and archive.today (same website as archive.ph and archive.is ) from archiving its content, which can be huge issue for smaller nations holidays reference records i.e. Turk & Caicos [1] [2]

Normally, for other nations which block these services,s i.e. the Philippines, if the PDF file is available, we can at least upload those files manually to the Internet Archive.

Do we allow screenshots instead for such cases?

Can we use something like ArchiveWeb.page here? It lets you save the page yourself and upload it to the Internet Archive manually.

That way we bypass the block but still get a proper link instead of just a screenshot. Do you think that works?

hmmm you are totally right—wget --mirror is easiest way.

For example, I tried my method on the link from PR #3130 that we couldn't archive earlier. I manually created the WACZ file and uploaded it: https://archive.org/download/my-archiving-session_20260121_1412/my-archiving-session.wacz

But since we can't preview it natively yet, I have to use a custom viewer just to see it:

https://www.arc.f0s.online/https:/archive.org/download/my-archiving-session_20260121_1412/my-archiving-session.wacz

it is obviously a long process compared to a simple download. I just chose this method to ensure the file is tamper-proof, but wget is definitely a valid option too.

Yup, exactly—they just store it as a file now
