Stock AOSP Tools Not Showing in Dashboard #63

Description

@popple-97

Bug description

Certain stock tools built into AOSP like the Gallery are not showing up in the Dashboard even though they are enabled. In this case LightOS is totally disabled.

I assume most people won't want the entire list of system apps, but I use the AOSP Gallery as the most relevant case for a stock app that should show up in the Dashboard.

Steps to reproduce the bug

  1. Verify the Gallery (AOSP version) is enabled on the test device.
  2. Log into the Luma Dashboard, verify the current tools list for the test device. Note any apps with the same display name and verify they are NOT the AOSP Gallery.
  3. Attempt to find and add Gallery from the Android tools list in the Dashboard.

Additional information

I'm looking to use the Light Phone III in Full Android and can say definitively this pre-release is chef's kiss molto bene!

Workaround for the issue here is to install a 3rd-party app, all of which do show up in the Dashboard.

But I should mention other things about my setup here so you know how you can expect at least some users to use Luma:

  • LightOS disabled, LightOS tools hidden from the Dashboard and all shortcuts and key mappings replaced with Android tools
  • light_mode set to false
  • F-Droid and Obtainium installed but left off the Dashboard. Debating how to keep updating F-Droid apps without F-Droid, since this allows quick install of a browser. Previously left F-Droid off-loaded to a PC for occasional, manual updates.
  • DAVx5 still enabled at least for now
  • Fossify App suite for Phone, Messages, Contacts, Gallery
  • Still using Key Mapper to bind buttons in ways Luma still doesn't, like double-tapping the wheel
