[solved] Sound stops working after Chromebook Hana (Lenovo 300e Mediatek) wakes up from sleep

Superficially, the sound icon shows and you can increase/decrease volume or mute/unmute it, but when you play any audio from any app, the speakers don't emit any sound. The problem goes away after restarting (but logout/login doesn't help). It has been happening for quite a while (not by any recent update) -- I am unsure if the fresh velvet OS image also has the same issue.

I am using kernel 6.12

A workaround is to restart pipewire.

systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber

You can create the following script and desktop file to do this

Script: nano $HOME/.local/bin/restart-audio.sh

#!/bin/bash
sleep 1
systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber 2>/dev/null
pulseaudio -k 2>/dev/null

Now, create the following .desktop file:
Create it with nano $HOME/.local/share/applications/restart-audio.desktop:

(Replace YOUR-USERNAME with your actual username in the Exec entry)

Type=Application
Name=Restart Audio After Resume
Comment=Fix sound after suspend on Debian ARM Chromebook
Exec=/home/YOUR-USERNAME/.local/bin/restart-audio.sh
X-GNOME-Autostart-enabled=true

StartupNotify=false

Then make both of these executable

chmod +x $HOME/.local/bin/restart-audio.sh
chmod +x $HOME/.local/share/applications/restart-audio.desktop

Pin this app to your app launcher/panel. Then click on this app after the computer wakes up from sleep.

it looks like we need a simialr approach to what i suggested here: #65 (comment) for this system too then ... someone just has to look into how to get this setup via systemd suspend/resume
