Introduction :

The Virtual Reality Lab (DESIGN-P2) is designed to provide undergraduate students with an immersive and interactive learning environment through Virtual Reality (VR)-based simulations. The lab integrates theoretical concepts with practical experiences, enabling learners to visualize, explore, and interact with complex systems and environments that may otherwise be difficult, expensive, or unsafe to access in a traditional laboratory setting.

The lab consists of eight experiments covering diverse application domains of Virtual Reality, including fundamental VR concepts and applications, architectural visualization, CRO operation, qualitative chemistry analysis, engine assembly and disassembly, vehicle simulation, electronic circuit building, and multiplayer virtual classroom environments. These experiments collectively demonstrate the versatility of VR technology in engineering, science, and educational applications.

Objectives

  • To introduce students to the fundamental concepts, components, and applications of Virtual Reality.
  • To provide hands-on experiential learning through immersive simulations.
  • To enhance conceptual understanding by enabling visualization and interaction with virtual environments.
  • To develop problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills through interactive virtual experiments.
  • To promote self-paced learning and improve learner engagement using modern educational technologies.

Course Alignment:

  • Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality
  • Human-Computer Interaction
  • Computer Graphics and Visualization
  • Emerging Technologies
  • Simulation and Modeling
  • Engineering and Applied Science Laboratory Courses
  • Digital Learning and Educational Technology

The experiments support outcome-based education by reinforcing theoretical concepts through practical implementation and simulation-based learning experiences.

Target Audience:

The lab is primarily intended for Undergraduate (UG) students pursuing programs in Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, and other related disciplines. It can also serve as a valuable learning resource for faculty members, researchers, and learners interested in Virtual Reality technologies and their real-world applications.

The Virtual Reality Lab aims to bridge the gap between theory and practice by providing accessible, engaging, and realistic virtual learning experiences that foster deeper understanding and skill development.
