Command line history for docker containers

When we fire history command using command, we do not get history of commands from that docker container.

Identify, if docker containers keep history or not.

Docker containers do keep history. But to see that history you have to get inside the container and fire the history command. Unlike other command using docker exec <container ID> history we cannot view the containers history.
eg:

$ docker exec 34ab6efd089f history
rpc error: code = 2 desc = "oci runtime error: exec failed: exec: \"history\": executable file not found in $PATH"root@meghana-Aspire-E5-571 docker $ 

 $ docker exec -it 34ab6efd089f bash
root@34ab6efd089f:/# history
    1  export http_proxy="http://proxy.iiit.ac.in:8080"
    2  export https_proxy="http://proxy.iiit.ac.in:8080"
    3  echo -e 'Acquire::http::proxy "http://proxy.iiit.ac.in:8080/";\n Acquire::https::proxy "http://proxy.iiit.ac.in:8080/";' > /etc/apt/apt.conf
    4  cat /etc/apt/apt.conf
    5  sudo apt-get update
    6  cat /etc/resolv
