TPAC 2026 Mini Workshop Proposal: AI and Society

Draft CFP

TPAC 2026 will feature mini workshops on breakouts day. @TzviyaSiegman, @hidde de Vries, and @christianliebel are organizing an AI and Society workshop to have a conversation about the impact of Generative AI on Society. Open an issue at https://github.com/w3c/tpac2026-miniworkshops with the "AIandSociety" label or submit a document to https://github.com/w3c/tpac2026-miniworkshops/blob/main/AIandSociety to indicate interest in presenting about the positive or negative impact of GenAI on society. You may also discuss how W3C might shape the future of the web based on W3C's Ethical Web Principles or Vision.

Presentations will be 5 minutes. There will be a discussion period open to all attendees to close the workshop. Remote participation and presentation available.

You are representing yourself, not your organization. More than one person from each member organization may propose to speak.

Some suggestions for topics are:

  • Sustainability (water, carbon impact)
  • Open Web, attribution
  • Discoverability
  • Inclusion
  • Discrimination/bias
  • Neighborhoods
  • Accessibility
  • Objectivity / knowledge (‘epistemic injustice’)
  • UI
  • Translations/language
  • Threat modeling
  • co-browsing experience

Please submit your proposal at https://github.com/w3c/tpac2026-miniworkshops/blob/main/AIandSociety by 30 September. Contact Tzviya and Hidde with questions
