Before moving to a new system, I usually check the basic import and export functionality to ensure interoperability and make an estimate for the future.
I see that several similar questions have been left unanswered for a long time (#1890, #1701).
Some information on using the REST API was provided in #1202 and #1232.
What would really help is a simple way for users to import historic data, to make it easier to onboard and export their data for backup, and to avoid the lock-in effect.
My guess is that this could be implemented relatively easily, as the API essentially provides the necessary functionality.
