Is it anti-detect or just a profile manager

I'm not entirely sure I understand the app's purpose, as the readme is confusing. Could someone clarify?

• Why are so many browsers supported?
• If most browsers already come with profiles, why should I use this app?
• Are all the browsers anti-detect alternatives for goLogin, Octobrowser, etc.?
• If only Camufox (the Firefox version) is the anti-detect part, why download so many browsers when the user already has some installed?

Please don't think this is a trick question. I'm genuinely curious because I stumbled upon this repo while searching for alternatives to anti-detect browsers that become expensive when using multiple profiles. I would appreciate some clarity.

Hi there :)

So many browsers are supported to ensure that users have access to all engines as some websites only support certain browser features. Donut has initially started as a profile manager, but soon after release transitioned to a proper anti-detect solution with Camoufox as the base. Only Camoufox offers anti-detect profiles, other browsers are just regular browser binaries.

The reason the app doesn't allow using binaries that you already have installed is because it is impossible to predict if your binary supports specific features needed to be integrated with Donut. I'm considering adding this as a "no extended support, best-effort" feature in the future, but the regular pre-selected browsers will continue to be available.

Thank you for the clarification. Do you have any plans to extend the anti-detect features to at least one of the Chromium-based browsers?

If you have no plans, do you have any recommendations if one were to use Claude/Cursor to build on top of your work to get this going?

I do have plans to add support for a Chromium-based browser, but it is time-consuming. fingerprint-chromium is not really open source and the author does not provide binaries for all platforms that I support. undetected-chromedriver is only good for one chromium instance on one machine as it is only good for avoiding bot detection, not for changing the fingerprint.

If you would like to chip in, take a look at the source code of both Camoufox and the latest available version of fingerprint-chromium. If you can build a CI pipeline to automatically patch latest chromium source code to allow modification of the fingerprint via flags for all major operating systems and architecture and build a binary as well as publish it on GitHub with an appropriate license, then I'd be happy to integrate it into Donut.

I don't quite understand Rust or the core mechanics enough to contribute significantly. However, I found this, and perhaps you could please take a look to see if it will work: https://github.com/itbrowser-net/undetectable-fingerprint-browser

If it does, we'll have both Firefox and Chromium sorted, covering most devices currently online and their fingerprints.

I haven't seen this project. It seemingly doesn't offer prebuilt binaries for all systems, but otherwise looks interesting. I'll take a look, thanks!

If you are interested in contributing, you don't need to know Rust. I don't have any advanced Rust features, most of it is very basic. Modifying browser fingerprint for both Firefox and Chromium mostly requires working with a C++ codebase, and if you are interested in improving the UI of Donut - it is fully written in JavaScript :)

This is a great anti-detected browser tool. I want that when you are developing the Windows version, when generating a profile, you can select the device: Windows, Android, Apple, Mac, so that it becomes unique to the Camoufox browser. And you can customize your own user agent.
