Requested by users after launch.
People want Molt to deal with the constant OneDrive pestering: the "back up your folders" popups, the setup nagging, the startup launch, and the sidebar clutter in File Explorer.
Decision: accepted, in scope
This is a good fit and it is planned.
Important safety note
Molt will not delete OneDrive or your synced files. Uninstalling OneDrive outright can wipe your data, because Windows quietly redirects your Desktop, Documents, and Pictures into the OneDrive folder. Blindly removing it deletes people's stuff. That is why OneDrive is currently on Molt's protected "never touched" list and will stay there.
What we will build instead
A new reversible protection switch (same pattern as the existing ad and recommendation blocker) that quiets OneDrive without any data loss:
- turn off the "back up your folders" and "finish setup" nagging
- stop OneDrive from launching at startup
- remove the OneDrive entry from the File Explorer sidebar
- optionally unlink your account (stops syncing, keeps every local file exactly where it is)
Everything reversible with one click, same as the rest of Molt. No files are ever deleted.
