VisionFM licence — does "research and educational use" cover clinical documentation? #12

Description

@oph-service

Dear ABILab-CUHK,

I am an ophthalmologist at clinique conakry . I am building a non-commercial workstation that records
and documents surgery in our own operating theatre. It is not sold and will not be sold.

VisionFM's licence permits research and educational use and excludes commercial use. My intended
use is neither: images would be from real patients undergoing real operations, and any output
would form part of that patient's clinical record rather than a study.

Before using VisionFM I would like to be clear about your intent. Would clinical documentation of
this kind fall inside "research and educational purposes" as you meant it, or would you consider
it outside the licence? I would rather ask than assume.

If it falls outside, would you be willing to grant written permission for non-commercial clinical
use at a single institution?

With thanks,
