Launch Estimator →  |  Start Free Trial →

Overview

Global Shipping Cost Estimator is a free, real-time freight rate calculator covering Sea (LCL), Air, and Express (DHL/FedEx) shipping modes. Built for importers, dropshippers, and supply chain professionals navigating 2026 logistics costs.

Live Tool: accio.com/wow/tool-shipping-cost-estimator.html

Why This Tool?

Freight rates fluctuate based on fuel indices, peak season demand, and geopolitical route shifts. Manually comparing quotes from 5+ forwarders wastes hours. This estimator delivers instant 2026 market benchmarks with automatic volumetric weight calculation to prevent billing surprises.

Features

Three Shipping Modes — Side-by-Side Comparison

Mode Lead Time Best For 2026 Est. Rate
Sea Freight (LCL) 25–40 Days Bulk inventory > 2 CBM / >150 kg $180 – $320 / CBM
Air Freight 5–10 Days Medium value, 45–200 kg $6.50 – $11.00 / kg
Express (DHL/FedEx) 2–5 Days Samples / urgent < 45 kg $14.00 – $22.00 / kg

Smart Cost Calculation

  • Volumetric Weight Logic: Auto-detects "light but bulky" shipments — calculates (L×W×H)/5000 for Express and (L×W×H)/6000 for Air, then charges the higher of actual vs. volumetric weight
  • Port Surcharges: Auto-applies peak season adjustments (PSS), fuel indices, and security fees for major hubs (Shenzhen, Hai Phong, Mundra)
  • Transparent Breakdown: Separates base freight from variable surcharges so you know exactly what you're paying for

Regional Rate Parity

  • Vietnam → US rates have reached parity with China → US as of Q1 2026
  • Sea Freight dominates for volume: shipments > 2 CBM are typically 60–80% cheaper via Sea vs. Air
  • Multi-origin comparison: input factory locations in China, Vietnam, or India to compare total shipping cost

Landed Cost Integration

Export estimates directly to the Import Duty Calculator and Profit Margin Calculator for end-to-end margin accuracy.

How It Works

Step 1: Select Mode (Sea / Air / Express)
Step 2: Enter Origin → Destination (auto-loads 2026 port surcharges)
Step 3: Input Weight + Dimensions (auto-runs volumetric check)
Step 4: Get Transparent Cost Breakdown — base rate + surcharges
Step 5: Export to Landed Cost Calculator for total margin analysis

Example: 3 CBM / 500 kg shipment from Shenzhen to Los Angeles

Mode Rate Total Estimate Lead Time
Sea LCL $250 / CBM $750 25–35 days
Air Freight $8.50 / kg $4,250 7–10 days
Express Not recommended (>45 kg)

For this shipment, Sea LCL saves $3,500 (82%) vs. Air — enough margin difference to make or break a sourcing deal.

Use Cases

  • Amazon FBA Sellers — Budget container/LCL costs for inventory replenishment
  • Dropshippers — Estimate Express sample costs before committing to bulk orders
  • Supply Chain Managers — Compare multi-origin shipping scenarios
  • Product Sourcers — Factor shipping into supplier comparison (cheapest factory ≠ cheapest landed)
  • E-commerce Startups — Build realistic logistics budgets before launch

FAQ

What is volumetric weight and why does it matter?
Carriers charge by chargeable weight — the higher of actual weight and volumetric weight. Volumetric weight = (L×W×H in cm)/5000 (Express) or /6000 (Air). A large box of pillows can incur 3× the expected freight cost if you only budget by actual weight.
Sea vs. Air — when should I choose which?
Sea: Shipments > 2 CBM or > 150 kg, not time-sensitive. 60–80% cheaper than Air.
Air: 45–200 kg, medium-value goods, need in 5–10 days.
Express: Urgent samples < 45 kg, need in 2–5 days.
Are Vietnam shipping rates really equal to China's now?
As of Q1 2026, Vietnam → US main routes have reached near-parity with China → US. This is driven by increased carrier capacity on Vietnam routes and reduced fuel differential. However, China still holds an advantage for LCL consolidation due to higher cargo density.
What surcharges are included?
The estimator includes base freight + fuel surcharge (BAF), peak season surcharge (PSS) when applicable, and security fees. Excludes customs duties, destination handling, and last-mile delivery — use the Import Duty Calculator for those.
Does this cover China to UK routes?
