Imagemagick

Imagemagick is a set of tools installed on the 3 Ubuntu machines. They allow you to work on many different kinds of images, including tifs. It doesn't work on jp2 files though. Here are some useful commands:

  1. identify 100.tif - this gives you some basic info about the file. Use identify -verbose 100.tif This gives you lots of information about the file.
  2. convert 172.tif -compress None -crop 2x5-0-0@ +repage +adjoin tile-%d.tif This takes a large compressed tif file and creates 10 uncompressed tiles of the image.
