Shell variables do not survive between separate tool calls. Every later block
uses `relay_socket`, and some use variables set earlier in the same section (the
sign-in poll uses `sign_in`, the sign-in request's response). Run a section's
blocks in one shell. In a new shell, re-establish every variable the next block
reads first: re-run this discovery block for `relay_socket`, and never re-send a
sign-in request just to restore `sign_in`; the poll falls back to a 5-second
interval without it.

If the socket exists, inspect it before installing anything:
