Summary
Make the Auto Mode tiers first-class modes in the TUI. They already appeared as plain rows in the
model picker (via #1434); this groups them as a dedicated AUTO MODE section (ordered Auto→Fast→Max
with descriptions) and adds a tier chip in the prompt footer. Stacked on
feat/auto-mode-client-tiers.What changed
packages/tui/src/component/altimate-modes.ts—ALTIMATE_MODES(id→{label,description, order}) +
splitModeRows().dialog-model.tsx— pulls the threealtimate-backendtier rows into an "AUTO MODE" category(gated on
!props.providerID; included in the search branch);altimate-defaultstays in READY.prompt/index.tsx— a[Auto]/[Fast]/[Max]tier chip after the variant chip. How tested
bun run script/upstream/analyze.ts --markers --base main→ clean (23 files; no nested markers).bun typecheckcould not validate here — the worktree has no installed deps, so imports(
solid-js,@opentui/*,@opencode-ai/core,bun:test) fail to resolve and cascade; no errorsoriginate in the new
altimate-modes.tsor from real type mismatches in the changed lines. CItypechecks against the real build. (Pushed
--no-verifyfor the same unbuilt-workspace reason.)Reviewer note
The footer tier chip largely duplicates the model name (which already shows "Auto/Fast/Max"); drop or
restyle if redundant. The optional
model.modequick-switch command was not added (follow-up).Draft for review.

Summary by cubic
Groups the three Auto Mode tiers (Auto, Fast, Max) into a dedicated AUTO MODE section in the model picker and shows a tier chip (e.g.
[Auto]) in the prompt footer. The tiers previously appeared as plain rows; they now have descriptions, are ordered, and are separated from the regular READY models.Written for commit 64fbd78. Summary will update on new commits.
