Summary

Session index refreshes currently enumerate every source before cached queries can proceed. Add resumable batches and direct checks of indexed candidates so hosts can keep the UI responsive and refresh recent changes within a file, byte and time budget.

The implementation keeps no-change passes read-only, validates cached source paths, preserves sessions during Codex plain-to-zstd archival, and lets a full refresh complete metadata omitted by bounded reads. SQLite remains at schema v5; no reindex is required. This PR prepares the additive Swift API release 0.13.0 for Vibe Bar.

Validation

  • swift build and the complete Swift suite: 422 XCTest + 618 Swift Testing tests, all passed.
  • Both Rust storage contract tests passed; the shared schema is unchanged.
  • Independent review reproduced and verified the long-header, compressed-archive, and symlink-ancestor cases using Vibe Bar's actual bounded adapter.
  • Synthetic 14,000-session comparison against 0.12.0 verifies zero parses/writes for an unchanged recent pass and exactly one session update after a single append.
  • git diff --check passed.

Time limits are cooperative between source reads. An individual admitted parse has a byte bound, not a hard preemption deadline.

Keep cached queries responsive while discovery and parsing run in resumable batches. Add low-cost candidate refreshes, stable cursor commits, bounded archive migration, and source containment checks without changing the v5 schema.

Keep adapter roots on discovered sources so a directory replaced by a symlink between batches cannot redirect indexing outside the owning store.
