Brief 39 of the August 2026 audit. Report: dev/review-2026-08/reports/39-residual-batch.md

Constituent changes:

  • fix(extract_precision): report E[K_jj] on the diagonal, matching predict/simulate
  • fix(prior-pips): pass the method's acceptance target; hoist the resolution
  • fix(anchor-curve): read the mixed precision diagonal on its stored scale
  • chore(configure): fail fast instead of deferring to a make error
  • test(prior-print): run the print-method tests on CRAN
  • chore(docs): regenerate extract_precision Rd for the E[K_jj] diagonal

Part of the 12-PR stack replacing #200 (one PR per audit brief). Squash-merge in stack order starting from PR 29, then run dev/review-2026-08/restack.sh to rebase the remaining PRs.
