PSCS SecureOps

Authority-safe WebMCP for AI-assisted IT operations.

Web content can tell an AI agent what to do. That does not give the content authority to make it happen.

PSCS SecureOps is a challenge application that lets a WebMCP-capable browser agent read service tickets, propose structured actions, and attempt demo operations. Before any consequence is permitted, the app checks the independently issued human grant against the exact ticket, session, operation, target, payload digest, validity window, and single-use state.

Try the four scenarios

The demo records no real IT effect. Its purpose is to make the authority boundary inspectable.

WebMCP implementation

The browser integration is implemented directly in app/webmcp.ts with the imperative WebMCP API:

The registered tools are:

  • read_ticket — returns untrusted ticket evidence.
  • propose_action — obtains a non-effecting PSCS authority decision.
  • execute_approved_action — attempts a demo effect through exact-grant and replay enforcement.
  • get_security_trace — returns purpose retention, authority standing, binding, reason codes, and recovery.

There is deliberately no grant_authority WebMCP tool. A human must explicitly issue or reissue each five-minute, single-use demo grant through the page. Grants are never derived from ticket content or agent output, and the page and WebMCP tools share the same replay ledger.

The narrow Sites-compatible enforcement profile is in app/lib/secureops.ts. It ports the demonstrable operation/target/payload-digest/time-window/single-use boundary needed for this browser application. It does not represent the complete Python PSCS Harness, recurrent carrier inspection, grounded review, LJPW measurement, or authenticated HMAC envelope.

Local verification

Requires Node.js 22.13 or later.

The deterministic tests cover the four authored scenarios, exact-field substitution, legitimate-task recovery, authority impersonation, quoted hostile text, missing and expired authority, and replay rejection.

Provenance

The pre-existing PSCS research and Python security kernel are maintained separately in BruinGrowly/PSCS-Semantic-Security. The challenge provenance anchor is commit 1760c615c12e078117f806c4ac307f7efffca4d4, dated August 2, 2026.

This repository contains the new post–August 25 challenge work: the Sites application, WebMCP tools, browser adapter, four scenarios, visual security trace, and Sites deployment configuration. See PROVENANCE.md.

Evidence boundary

Known from executable local tests:

  • Exact grant matches allow the authored demo operation.
  • Operation, target, payload, request/session, time-window, and replay mismatches fail closed in this implementation.
  • Quoted hostile content can be quarantined while the separately authorized analysis remains usable.

Not established by this demo:

  • Universal prompt-injection immunity.
  • Production identity, secret custody, durable multi-process replay prevention, or real IT-system integration.
  • Performance against unknown external attackers or held-out operational workloads.
