Welcome to the PostGeoSQL wiki!

  1. This is a free research international project that is not subject to any planning.

  2. The project depends on the knowledge, skills, interest, creative inspiration, mental tension and generation of new ideas and methods of solving spatial problems in simple ways in its participants, as well as on the pleasure derived from the work done.

  3. The concept of PostGeoSQL is to develop functions that work for all DBMSs that support CTE (Common Table Expressions) query types and have a spatial extension, for example: PostgreSQL/PostGIS, SQLite/SpatiaLite, etc.

    For reference:

  4. I got the desire to understand the behavior of SQL code in 2017, as a result of attending the PGConf.Russia 2017 conference and observing the behavior of programmers when they solve various tasks using PostgreSQL and PostGIS DBMS.

  5. Being familiar with the Geographic Information Systems Stack Exchange website since May 2018 helped spark my interest in writing code.

  6. In 2020, my first function ST_LongestAxisPolygonsFromVoronoiDiagrams was developed. From that moment, it became clear to me that programming is a complex creative process, which became my favorite pastime and which turned into a PostGeoSQL research international project in 2024.

  7. The geospatial function ST_CentroidOnSurface was written in 3 minutes, ST_VoronoiDiagramsFromPolygons and ST_VoronoiDiagramsFromLines was developed over 4 years, ST_GeoAstroide (ST_GeoAstroideAsymmetrical) was developed over 7 years :-)...
