cursor moving too fast when three finger dragging just started

detail of issue:

• when I start my three-finger-dragging by slowly putting down my finger and slowly move, the dragging works well. But this is not the normal use case since I need to deliberately slow down my finger.
• when I start my three-finger-dragging by normal use case like in MacBook (I am also a MacBook user), the cursor will suddenly move extremely fast at the beginning, then slow down like normal. This make it difficult to select text without over-selecting unwanted text and need to move cursor back to select the wanted text.

I thought this is the problem of "mouse acceleration", but it still happens when I set it to 0. Besides, the sudden acceleration issue only appears when three-finger-drag just started. After this, without releasing the drag, when I speed up my finger movement, the cursor did not accelerate, so this may not be caused by the "mouse acceleration" setting. Could you please suggest if it is bug or my setting's problem?

This might be related to your touchpad and the way it behaves.
May you upload a log file of this issue : Just record a single drag attempt with that speedup issue, touching your touchpad only once so we can catch only that part in the log file (In Other Settings, turn on Record Logs and then turn off, possibly using a mouse so it does not logs useless touchpad event).

May you upload a log file of this issue : Just record a single drag attempt with that speedup issue, touching your touchpad only once so we can catch only that part in the log file (In Other Settings, turn on Record Logs and then turn off, possibly using a mouse so it does not logs useless touchpad event).

Hi, thanks for reply. I have recorded two log (the first one is when the overspeed issue happens; the second one is when I deliberately slow my finger down to avoid the issue). Both logs should only involve the three fingers down > drag > three finger up actions, the other actions performed during recording is performed by mouse.

In both of your cases, this is due to the touchpad reporting repeated coordinate shifts of about 100 units for all three fingers at the same time, which is probably an issue in the Raw Input driver. I can’t really do anything about that except building a workaround.

You may be able to fix it with the option "Limit the maximum allowed distance the finger can be moved at once" in the settings. Try to set it between 50 to 100, it should rule out all these jumps.

It does work much better after I set this option to 110. If I set it too small, the drag sometimes doesn't even initiated.

Yes, this is because this option does not limit the amount of a move, instead it completely removes the event. I think a better behavior could be attained by replacing all values above e.g. 100 to a e.g. 10 for example (configure a replacement value for values above the threshold).
