Tracks the audit of missing data fields (capital, population, currency name/symbol, etc.) and functionality (search, filters, geo utils, pagination) against comparable libraries, plus the phased plan to close the gaps incrementally on this branch.
REST Countries v5 dropped its free tier (paid-only now). mledoze/countries and dr5hn's database are both ODbL (share-alike), same conflict already flagged for dr5hn. Wikidata's structured data is CC0 (public domain, no attribution, no copyleft, no key) and covers the same fields; currency name/symbol comes from a hardcoded ISO 4217 table instead of any fetch.
