If bathymetry is flat, CShore profiles need to be very long. At present, sediment transport polygons are created just by joining the seaward ends of profiles. But sediment transport polygons only need to extend seaward as far as the depth of closure.
So, it would be good to distinguish between:
- CShore profiles. These are always as long as, or longer than, sediment-transport profiles. (Length set by user?)
- Sediment-transport profiles. These are colinear with, but shorter than, the CShore profiles. Sediment transport profiles extend seaward only as far as the depth of closure. Polygons are created by joining the seaward ends of sediment transport profiles.
(Note that profile length will always be constrained by the size of the DEM. This could mean that profiles do not extend even as far as the depth of closure. The only solution then is to increase the size of the DEM.)
