T-Rustable

T-Rustable is a local, offline PDF editor for Linux and Windows. Its main feature is modding: you can make your own tools and add them to the app. The built-in tools are mods too, and they use the same API as your mods.

Related post: I learned something new about myself: I hate Rust, more than C++

Status: early development. The app does not work yet.

Roadmap

  1. Repository, licenses, and design documents (done).
  2. Risk spikes: rendering speed, mod panel isolation, WASM mod host, PDFium edit APIs.
  3. Mod API v0.1.
  4. Core, command model, and mod host.
  5. GUI.
  6. External mods: .tmod packages and the mod manager.
  7. Command line and batch jobs.

Command line

The t-rustable command shows facts about PDF files, merges them, exports pages as PNG or text, and runs mods on many files. See docs/cli.md.

t-rustable merge a.pdf b.pdf:2-4 -o both.pdf
t-rustable run t-rustable.page-tools:rotate a.pdf --args '{"degrees": 90}' -o rotated.pdf
