🎯 What: Extracted the inner os.scandir directory iteration logic in _collect_files into a new _process_dir_entries generator function using yield from to flatten the deeply nested code structure.

💡 Why: The original _collect_files function had significant nesting (while -> try -> with -> for -> try -> if/elif) making it harder to read and maintain. By extracting the inner loop into a separate generator, the main function is much simpler while preserving the exact same traversal behavior.

Verification:

  • Tested the modified CLI logic to ensure it yields the correct files.
  • Verified that all existing unit tests pass using PYTHONPATH=. pytest tests.
  • Evaluated and approved in code review, confirming no edge cases or error handling structures were accidentally modified.

Result: Improved code readability and reduced nesting depth without changing runtime behavior or performance.

OpenCode Agent approved this PR.

The changes refactor the file traversal logic into a helper function for clarity. The behavior and performance remain the same. Security and user-facing behavior are unchanged.

  • Result: APPROVE
