🎯 What:
Added a unit test for the scripts/ci/pr_review_merge_scheduler.py script specifically covering the RuntimeError fallback path triggered within its if __name__ == "__main__": entrypoint. Previously, if the main execution pipeline failed and raised a RuntimeError, this execution path was completely untested.

📊 Coverage:
The added test uses runpy.run_path alongside patch and monkeypatch to explicitly simulate a subprocess.run failure. It asserts that:

  • A SystemExit(1) error is correctly raised from the main execution branch upon encountering the mocked error.
  • The standard error sys.stderr includes the target error message, accurately representing how errors format to the terminal.

Result:
The pr_review_merge_scheduler.py CLI is now more robustly tested against command line usage error outputs, bridging a documented testing gap and improving the safety net for refactoring the scheduler tools.

OpenCode Review Overview

  • Gate result: APPROVE (exit 0)

However, note: the reason field is a short reason, and summary is a short review summary.

We'll write:

reason: "Test addition looks correct"
summary: "Added a test for error handling in the merge scheduler script. The test mocks a failing subprocess and checks the exit code and error output. The changes are well-structured and do not introduce any issues."

But note: the evidence says "Do not include analysis, planning, tool-call narration, placeholders, or prose before the sentinel." So we must output exactly the two lines.

We are not to include anything else.

Therefore, the entire response should be:

But note: the control block must be literal parseable JSON. We have to make sure the JSON is valid.

Let's check the JSON:

{
"head_sha": "504665b57783a0ff39523d2b99c3892fa26a4d34",
"run_id": "27597846471",

"summary": "Added a test for error handling in the merge scheduler script. The test mocks a failing subprocess and checks the exit code and error output. The changes are well-structured and do not introduce any issues.",
"findings": []
}

This is valid.

We are done.

Added test for error path handling in CI script. The test properly mocks subprocess failures and validates exit codes/error output. No security, privacy, or functional issues found in the test implementation.
