The latest ChatGPT/Codex desktop update can replace a previously working app with a build that no longer opens on older versions of macOS.
This happened on a 2017 Intel MacBook Air running macOS Monterey 12.7.6. The app showed a compatibility error after updating, but a previous signed Intel build was successfully restored.

This repository includes a read-only checker that reports:

Older desktop builds may:

- Prompt you to update again

Back up important data before changing applications. Do not use an older build on a managed work computer without permission.
