The bug

tracekit <command> --help shows 19 options and arguments with no description, so the help lists only their names. Affected: init --proxy-port; uninstall --project, --agent; daemon --home; proxy --home, --port, --upstream; approvals show|approve|reject approval_id, and --reason for approve and reject; approvals slack slack_action; export -o/--out, --run; verify bundle, --json; policy action, file.

The change

Each of the 19 gets a one-line help= describing what it does, worded from the code that reads it (for example export --out defaults to tracekit.tkb). No option is renamed, added or removed, and no behaviour changes. init --no-hooks is left out on purpose; it is handled with #464.

A new test, tests/test_cli_help.py, walks the parser that cli.main builds and fails if any option or argument, other than help, version and REMAINDER arguments, has no help.

How it was tested

  • python -m unittest tests.test_cli_help passes on this branch (exit 0, OK).
  • The same command on the base cli.py fails with no help= for: [...] listing the 19 options (exit 1, FAILED (failures=1)).
  • Lint: pyflakes is not installed in the project's .venv (.venv/Scripts/python.exe -m pyflakes --version exits 1 with No module named pyflakes). CI must pass lint before merge; the change adds no imports beyond those the test file uses.

The branch still includes the .agent-flow/ harness logs (20 files: audit.jsonl, 9 lint logs, 9 run reports, stop-gate.json) that were committed by mistake.

Regression test: fails on base twice (/no help= for: [/), passes on fix twice (python -m unittest tests.test_cli_help)

Fixes #643

Thanks. The help texts and the parser-walking test are the right shape. Three things before merge:

  1. Please drop the 21 .agent-flow/ files (audit log, gate logs, stop-gate.json). They're your local tool's state, not part of the change: git rm -r --cached .agent-flow && git commit -s --amend (or a new signed-off commit). I'm adding .agent-flow/ to .gitignore so it can't happen again.
  2. Keep lines at 120 characters or fewer, as the rest of cli.py does. --proxy-port's and --home's help lines are longer; wrap them as --agent's is.
  3. CLI: tracekit help shows every command, grouped, and the main features #619 and First-day fixes: plainer messages, a Claude Code quickstart, and an uninstall that says what it keeps #628 also change cli.py and may merge first. If GitHub shows a conflict, a rebase onto main is all it needs.

…es Claude Code sessions (part of #464) (#646)

* System mode: --no-hooks says what it does, and the tailer message names Claude Code sessions (part of #464)

`tracekit init --help` listed --no-hooks, the documented setup for an SDK
agent or the Claude Code plugin, with no description. It now says it
installs no agent hooks.

When init can't give the transcript tailer access, it said each run of the
user's sessions records a tailer_lost gap instead of their tool uses and
prompts. Only the Claude Code hook records that gap, and the hooks still
record the tool calls: the gap stands for the transcript. The message now
says so.

* gitignore: keep agent-flow's local state (.agent-flow/) out of commits

A contributor's PR (#648) carried 21 .agent-flow/ files: audit log, gate
logs and stop-gate.json from their local tool.
