While support for user providers was completed in #8, this implementation doesn't work on Windows 7.
The reason for this is technical and simple: on Win 8 and later, a kernel session can also act as a user session. That is:
- multiple instances can exist at once
- they can have custom names
- user providers can be enabled
On Windows 7, extra effort would be required to support user providers. Namely:
- creating an extra (user) session
- creating a separate thread and
TraceRelogger object
- an extra merge step at the end (merging the kernel and user ETL files)
As this would add a separate code path, I decided the extra complexity is not worth it. While Windows 7's general market share is still significant, its support will end really soon (2020).
