Upstream sync blocked #31

Description

@DoozyX

Daily M1 sync 2026-10-23 (automation run 38): VERIFIED INSTALLED AND PUSHED.

  • upstream origin/main: 3ef3ab9 (100 commits not in fork)
  • previous fork/main: ef4f5b7
  • merge candidate = pushed fork/main: c6d0b0a (parents ef4f5b7, 3ef3ab9)
  • conflicts: 13 files resolved by hand and independently reviewed (no defects). Worker-start now uses upstream's resolveWorkerStartRun with the fork's informative unbound-caller refusal passed in; pane-key projection combines upstream paneOf with the fork's settled-run tracking; both onClaudeHomeBindingChanged and emitWorktreeLifecycle kept; generated skill guides, bundle manifest and add-only released-digests regenerated so the fork's extra skills are in the ledger.
  • files split to satisfy the max-lines pre-commit rule (hook ran, no --no-verify): structured-send-delivery.ts, mobile-web-app-build-options.test.mjs, isHookObservationAt in hook-precedence.ts.
  • gates: pnpm install:release 0, mobile frozen install 0, pnpm tc 0, changed-code quality 0 findings, max-lines ratchet OK, oxlint clean on touched files, bundled-skill-guides and skill-bundle-manifest verify 0, mobile native-document bundle test (57 inputs) pass, bundle tests with ORCA_MOBILE_WEB_APP_DEPS_REQUIRED=1 pass, agent-hooks/runtime/rpc/skills/cli suites pass. One timer test (server-status-persist-throttle) failed once under load and passed 3/3 in isolation; neither side touched it.
  • lockfile: only the known @pnpm/exe bootstrap additions appeared, reverted with git checkout; no other drift.
  • installed /Applications/Orca.app 1.4.237-local.1792723765149.c6d0b0a9df75; codesign --deep --strict ok, Team N59WC8BU7V, arm64, orca-local-build.json commit c6d0b0a.
  • pushed: git push fork HEAD:refs/heads/main (no force); ls-remote fork main = c6d0b0a.
  • runtime: headless serve restart pending (waiter started; see ~/Library/Logs/orca-m1-restart.log). uc-vm and laptop follow via their 06:00 jobs.
  • note: the TMPDIR alias /Users/skletnikov/DoozyX/tools/orca/.orca/m1-sync-tmp is a dangling foreign link to the 2026-10-14 scratch; the build script sets no TMPDIR so it was left alone.
Evidence: .orca/2026-10-23-m1-daily-sync/ in the m1-daily-upstream-sync checkout.

    M1 daily sync 2026-10-17 (automation run 30) — FAILED/INCONCLUSIVE: merge conflicts need a decision

    • Pinned SHAs: fork/main a420b63cff8a0ff20096cd20fa62f4503efbd587, origin/main c3f52428dd82cf2c82aaffcff6716dcf15123f13 (444 upstream commits ahead of base 24bec2d260).
    • Checkout: /Users/skletnikov/DoozyX/tools/orca/.worktrees/orca/m1-daily-upstream-sync (branch DoozyX/m1-daily-upstream-sync, fast-forwarded to fork/main).
    • Command: git merge --no-ff --no-commit c3f52428dd → exit 1, 24 conflicted files; only generated src/cli/bundled-skill-guides.ts resolved (regenerated, --check exit 0). Merge is left in progress (MERGE_HEAD present) for the reviewer.
    • Cause: upstream moved sidebar grouping into src/shared/sidebar-list/, changed withClaudeProfileTerminalEnv / Claude conversation-store shapes and the status-bar usage hook; fork features (cross-host project groups, Claude bound homes, account usage roster) sit on the old shapes and need a real port, not an ours/theirs pick.
    • Not run: install, tc, tests, build, signing, push. Nothing installed; running/installed Orca unchanged (installed 1.4.224-local.1791748876423, running 1.4.224-local.1791963843579 per orca status).
    • Evidence: /Users/skletnikov/DoozyX/tools/orca/.orca/2026-10-17-m1-daily-sync/ (conflict-ledger.md, unresolved-files.txt, owner.json, merge.log).
    • Next decision: port fork features onto upstream's shared/sidebar-list and owner-usage design (reviewed), or drop/redo those fork features. Next daily run will see a merge in progress and stop.

M1 daily sync 2026-10-17 (automation run 31, id b84c0094-75b4-457c-9621-bad6e3fd77a9) — INCONCLUSIVE: install blocked by resource contention

    • Pinned SHAs: fork/main 13e53049ce6becbb78fe63eff6eb1b3fac02561a, origin/main 90c1c0ac500080b72d6a3a73f4ce3523695424b5 (both git fetch exit 0, ls-remote agrees).
    • Branch DoozyX/m1-daily-upstream-sync HEAD == fork/main; origin/main is already an ancestor of it (the run-30 conflicts were resolved and published earlier). Nothing to merge or push.
    • NOT a no-op: installed /Applications/Orca.app is 1.4.227-local.1792126350508.9365ecc75f5f (commit 9365ecc, arm64, TeamIdentifier N59WC8BU7V, codesign --verify exit 0); the candidate is 13e5304. Running runtime (orca status): 1.4.224-local.1791963843579.f5c47f24bac5 — restart also pending.
    • Blocker: another heavy job holds the host lease (ci-with-host-lease m1-heavy -- pnpm -r test, doozyx-apps vitest runners, load avg ~11). Waited ~8 min, still busy; per policy no concurrent heavy build was started and nothing was killed.
    • Not run: pnpm install:release, tc, tests, build:mac:install, push.
    • Evidence: /Users/skletnikov/DoozyX/tools/orca/.orca/2026-10-17-m1-daily-sync/ (owner.run31.json, run31-fetch-*.log).
    • Next decision: rerun when the m1-heavy lease is free.

Mac local sync 2026-10-17 13:27 CEST: SKIP (dirty checkout)

    • Root checkout main, no merge or rebase in progress. START HEAD 58c43e5b022b1c10f77f5cc59452d1bab4e68444.

    • Pinned fork/main 58c43e5b022b1c10f77f5cc59452d1bab4e68444 (fetch exit 0, ls-remote agrees). No incoming commits. Docs commit 8b786109c4 is preserved.

    • Skip reason: two untracked files in the checkout:

      • mobile/src/components/pr-sidebar/mermaid-webview-engine.generated.ts
      • mobile/src/components/rich-markdown-editor-document-script.generated.ts

Both are leftovers from the 2026-10-16 07:03 build. Upstream 86f6258 (refactor(mobile): delete native screens the OTA shell no longer reaches stablyai/orca#29979) dropped both names from mobile/.gitignore, and the merge that brought main up to 58c43e5 made them show as untracked. The job never cleans the shared checkout, so they are still there.

    • Install custody is stale: the receipt is for 9450bf4802e4, HEAD is 58c43e5b02. A rebuild and install are needed after the checkout is clean.

    • Installed and running build: 1.4.227-local.1792127058668.9450bf4802e4.

    • Not done: install:release, tc, build, app install, push, restart. Status: INSTALLED_RESTART_DEFERRED.

    • Unblock: delete the two files above, then rerun the sync.

Mac local sync 2026-10-17 13:37 CEST: SKIP (dirty checkout)

    • Root checkout main, no merge, rebase or cherry-pick in progress. START HEAD 245d07c6a253ad3247ec2aae38a454868a6603f8.
    • Pinned fork/main 245d07c6a253ad3247ec2aae38a454868a6603f8 (fetch exit 0, ls-remote agrees). No incoming commits. Docs commit 8b786109c4 is preserved.
    • Skip reason: the same two untracked files as the 13:27 run, still present (mtime 2026-10-16 07:03):
      • mobile/src/components/pr-sidebar/mermaid-webview-engine.generated.ts
      • mobile/src/components/rich-markdown-editor-document-script.generated.ts
    • Installed on disk: 1.4.229-local.1792236936342.245d07c6a253 (buildId …-245d07c6a253-arm64, arm64). Another session installed it at about 13:36 from .worktrees/laptop-main-merge, not this job. codesign --verify --deep --strict exits 0, TeamIdentifier N59WC8BU7V, and the designated requirement is unchanged. The installed app.asar 761e44aa… matches that worktree's built app.asar.
    • Receipt problem: at 13:37 something outside this job edited the custody receipt. Its head, version, buildId and appAsarSha256 now describe 1.4.229. Its sourceAppPath, sourceAppAsarSha256 (7144d3e8…), metadata and commandReceipts still describe the 2026-10-16 1.4.227 build, so the receipt's source and installed hashes disagree. The precheck does not compare those fields, so it would accept this receipt once the checkout is clean. This job did not touch the receipt.
    • Running runtime: 1.4.227-local.1792127058668.9450bf4802e4. Status: INSTALLED_RESTART_DEFERRED (automatic restart is blocked by the runtime proof contract).
    • Not done: merge (none needed), install:release, tc, tests, build, app install, push, restart.
    • Unblock: delete the two files above. Then either rerun the sync so it writes a complete receipt, or confirm that the hand-edited receipt is accepted.

Resolved 2026-10-17. Causes: dirty M1 checkout (pnpm-lock @pnpm/exe drift + generated mobile files), a dying agent on the M1, and 53 unpublished laptop commits keeping local main diverged. Upstream 90c1c0a is merged into fork/main (now 245d07c), the laptop and M1 run that build (signed, Team N59WC8BU7V), and the M1 build, install and headless restart is now config/scripts/m1-build-install.sh. uc-vm deploys via the M1 once its agents are idle.

    M1 daily sync 2026-10-18 (automation run 32, id 6d180d4c-c750-44db-a269-6828f80e683b): FAILED/INCONCLUSIVE. A merge design conflict needs a decision.

    • Pinned SHAs: fork/main 245d07c6a253ad3247ec2aae38a454868a6603f8, origin/main 33e6785fe2c36730bc0dfcdf1db6208d471df833 (35 upstream commits past base 90c1c0ac50). Both git fetch exit 0.
    • Checkout: /Users/skletnikov/DoozyX/tools/orca/.worktrees/orca/m1-daily-upstream-sync, branch DoozyX/m1-daily-upstream-sync (HEAD == fork/main). git merge --no-ff --no-commit origin/main exit 1 with 7 conflicts. All 7 are resolved and staged; the merge is left in progress (MERGE_HEAD present), not committed.
    • Gates run: pnpm install:release exit 0 (no lockfile drift), pnpm --dir mobile install --frozen-lockfile exit 0. pnpm tc exit 0, after fixing one fork import of a module that upstream moved.
    • Failing gate: conflict tests (vitest) exit 1, 4 failed / 85 passed. The 4 failures are upstream fix(sidebar): draw a project group once when two hosts publish it under one id stablyai/orca#30128/[Bug]: Sidebar shows a project group twice/overlapping when a remote runtime shares the group id with local (after orcad migration) stablyai/orca#30045 tests (same-id-host-groups, palette-results, folder-reveal). Upstream treats one group id published by two hosts as one group, with the last copy's name and parents winning. The fork's cross-host group merge (cross-host-project-group-merge.test.ts:204) explicitly keeps two hosts that reuse one id with different names as separate rows. The fork tests (:204, :246) use the same group shape as upstream's: one id on a local and a remote host, with different names. They expect the opposite result, so no ours/theirs pick is correct.
    • The resolved runtime spec (codex --no-daemon plus upstream spawnedPtyEnv) passes via orca-runtime.test.ts -t codex: exit 0, 8 passed.
    • Second blocker for step 4: config/scripts/m1-build-install.sh ends with a detached auto-restart that counts "working" agents in orca worktree ps. The runtime contract forbids this (an empty or filtered status listing is not proof the host is quiet; the run must stay INSTALLED_RESTART_DEFERRED). The restart must become opt-in, as a separately reviewed change, before the script can run unattended.
    • Not run: commit, independent review, build:mac:install, signing, push. Installed /Applications/Orca.app: 1.4.229-local.1792237077756.245d07c6a253 (commit 245d07c, arm64, codesign --verify exit 0). Running serve pid 892: 1.4.229-local.1792237077756.245d07c6a253. Both are the current fork/main, so nothing changed on the host.
    • TMPDIR alias /Users/skletnikov/DoozyX/tools/orca/.orca/m1-sync-tmp-1018 points to /Users/skletnikov/DoozyX/tools/orca/.worktrees/orca/m1-daily-upstream-sync/.orca/2026-10-18-m1-daily-sync/tmp/m1-sync.
    • Evidence: /Users/skletnikov/DoozyX/tools/orca/.orca/2026-10-18-m1-daily-sync/ (conflict-ledger.md, tests-conflict-verbose.log, tc.log, merge.log, merge-status.txt, owner.json).
    • Next decision: (a) adopt upstream's same-id rule in the fork's merged index (fold same-id cross-host copies; update the fork's test at :204), or (b) keep the fork rule and replace the 4 upstream tests with fork-equivalent ones. Separately, make the restart in m1-build-install.sh opt-in. The next daily run will see MERGE_HEAD and stop until this merge is finished.

M1 daily sync 2026-10-18 (automation run 32): VERIFIED INSTALLED AND PUSHED. Runtime restart pending.

    • Upstream origin/main 33e6785fe2c36730bc0dfcdf1db6208d471df833 (35 commits) merged into fork 245d07c6a253ad3247ec2aae38a454868a6603f8, giving candidate 73793d59be2bbdc7e1b77b749fc4de4078d2cf93 ("merge: update personal Orca from upstream main").
    • Conflicts (7) resolved. The project-group design conflict was settled by the user (option a): upstream's same-id rule (fix(sidebar): draw a project group once when two hosts publish it under one id stablyai/orca#30128/[Bug]: Sidebar shows a project group twice/overlapping when a remote runtime shares the group id with local (after orcad migration) stablyai/orca#30045) is ported into the fork's cross-host merged index, with union-find folding, shared drawn-parent walks and loop breaking. Two independent review rounds; all blockers fixed. Deferred: drag-reorder bucketing by stored parent (project-group-header-drop.ts).
    • Gates: pnpm install:release exit 0 and mobile frozen install exit 0, with no lockfile drift. pnpm tc exit 0. check:code-quality:changed exit 0. Sidebar/shared/cmd-j/manifest suites: 404 files, 3535 tests passed. New tests 26/26. Not green-verified: the full vitest suite (one attempt was killed under host load 27-51).
    • m1-build-install.sh (under the m1-heavy lease) exit 0. Installed /Applications/Orca.app 1.4.229-local.1792317808736.73793d59be2b: codesign --verify --deep --strict exit 0, Authority "Apple Distribution: DoozyX FZ-LLC (N59WC8BU7V)", TeamIdentifier N59WC8BU7V, arm64, orca-local-build.json commit 73793d5.
    • Re-fetched fork/main was still 245d07c (an ancestor). git push fork HEAD:refs/heads/main exit 0 (245d07c..73793d5). ls-remote fork main = 73793d5.
    • Running serve: pid 892, 1.4.229-local.1792237077756.245d07c6a253 (old build). The script's restart waiter is relaunched detached and restarts dev.onorca.serve once no agent is working; the log is ~/Library/Logs/orca-m1-restart.log.

Local sync 2026-10-18 ~13:00 Europe/Skopje: BLOCKED. Local main fast-forwarded to fork/main e3a5943, but the build/install did not run: the 'Apple Distribution: DoozyX FZ-LLC (N59WC8BU7V)' signing identity (needed to preserve the installed app's designated requirement) is missing from the login keychain; only Apple Development and Developer ID Application identities remain. No ad-hoc fallback used. Installed app and previous receipt unchanged (still 73793d5 build, now stale vs HEAD).

    Fleet on fork main e3a5943692d9 (2026-10-18 13:08 Europe/Skopje). Closing.

    • Why Upstream sync blocked #31 was reopened: laptop run 52 could not find the Apple Distribution identity. It lives in ~/Library/Keychains/doozyx-ci.keychain-db, which was not in the laptop's keychain search list. The keychain is now in the search list, as on the M1, and the laptop sync prompt names the unlock step.
    • Laptop: run 53 built, signed (Apple Distribution: DoozyX FZ-LLC (N59WC8BU7V), codesign --verify --deep --strict OK), installed and restarted. It is running 1.4.229-local.1792321577476.e3a5943692d9.

Correction to the comment above: on the laptop, codesign --verify --deep --strict /Applications/Orca.app fails after launch with "Disallowed xattr com.apple.FinderInfo found on /Applications/Orca.app". That is Orca's custom app-icon setting, which writes a Finder icon onto the bundle at launch (Icon\r, 13:08:09). The code signature is intact: codesign --verify --deep passes, Authority is Apple Distribution: DoozyX FZ-LLC (N59WC8BU7V), and the freshly built dist app passes --strict. The laptop sync prompt now uses non-strict verification for the installed app after launch, so the morning job won't rebuild on every run.
