Closes the actionable findings from the 0.2.0 pre-release test round (PRERELEASE_TEST_FINDINGS_11.md, not committed).
User-visible impact
Admin scope: a dashboard key bound to a user_path can no longer raise, reset, or delete the budget, rate limit, or model policy placed on its own scope root; writes stay allowed on strict descendants. Previously a tenant's key could void its own quota.
Masked secrets: a non-master dashboard key can no longer repoint a provider credential, MCP server, or guardrail (base_url, type, backend, proxy_url, url, analyzer_url) while echoing the *** mask for a stored literal secret, which sent the real secret to the new destination. Editing other fields behind the mask, and repointing after typing the secret in again, still work. Documented in secret-references (four locales).
Gemini: Gemma models on the Gemini provider drop reasoning_effort instead of translating it to a thinking level Google rejects with 400, on both api_modes.
Helm: liveness and readiness probes switch to scheme: HTTPS automatically when env.SERVER_TLS_CERT_FILE is set (a probe in values keeps an explicit scheme). appVersion is bumped from the stale 0.1.89 to the latest published image, 0.1.109 (0.2.0 is not on Docker Hub yet; the kind job in CI pulls the default tag).
Docs: de/zh/pl pages brought to parity with the English changes since v0.1.109 (ChatGPT chat via Responses, Vertex api_mode: anthropic, embeddings failover, range plugin field, stop-sequence cap, passthrough error bodies, Gemini 4, provider overview).
Roadmap: "Improving/reinventing the testing strategy" ticked for 0.2.0 in all locales.
Verification
go test (unit, -race on touched packages), make lint, make test-e2e: green. Release matrix subsets S63-S79 and the scoped-key, budget, Gemini, and passthrough scenarios: 39/39 on a rebuilt stack.
Both exploits replayed against a gateway built from this branch: scope-root writes answer 403 user_path_out_of_scope; the masked repoint answers 403 secret_reference_requires_master_key and the stored key never reached the fake upstream.
Helm: helm lint --strict on all CI profiles, the new workflow assertions, and a kind (v1.35.0) install of a locally built image: plain install Ready + helm test OK; upgrade with native TLS Ready in 2 s with HTTPS probes, helm test OK, /health served over HTTPS, plain HTTP on the TLS port answers 400 (which is why the probe scheme matters).
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Preserved masked credentials during edits and prevented restricted credentials from changing where stored secrets are sent.
Scoped credentials can no longer modify rules at their scope root.
Improved Gemini handling of reasoning settings for Gemma models.
Helm health probes now use HTTPS automatically when TLS is configured, unless a probe specifies its own scheme.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.

Walkthrough
This PR updates secret-destination checks, scoped write authorization, Helm probe rendering, and Gemma reasoning adaptation. It also revises provider and feature documentation in several languages, updates the Helm chart appVersion, and marks a roadmap item complete.
Changes: Secret destination restrictions
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Track retained secrets during destination checks config/secrets_destination.go, config/secrets_destination_test.go, internal/guardrails/service.go, internal/guardrails/secrets_test.go
Destination checks now consider stored literal secrets retained behind masks. Guardrail updates record retained values, and tests cover masked, retyped, dropped, and unrestricted secrets.
Pass retained secrets through admin upserts internal/admin/handler_mcpservers.go, internal/admin/handler_provider_credentials.go, internal/server/admin_secret_references_test.go
MCP server and provider credential upserts pass preserved values to destination checks. A server test verifies that a masked literal cannot be used to repoint a protected destination.
Scoped credentials cannot write to their scope root. Tests cover user, budget, and rate-limit writes and resets at the root and outside the scope.
Helm probe HTTPS rendering
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Render probes with the configured path and scheme helm/templates/_helpers.tpl, helm/templates/deployment.yaml, .github/workflows/helm.yml, helm/README.md, helm/Chart.yaml
Both probes use the shared helper, which applies the base path and adds HTTPS when TLS is configured and no scheme is set. Workflow checks cover TLS, non-TLS, base paths, and explicit schemes. The README describes automatic probe HTTPS, and the chart appVersion changes to 0.1.109.
Gemma reasoning adaptation
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Drop reasoning effort for Gemma internal/providers/gemini/chat.go, internal/providers/gemini/native.go, internal/providers/gemini/compat_request_test.go, internal/providers/gemini/native_thinking_test.go
Gemma requests omit reasoning effort and do not produce a thinking configuration. Tests cover effort values and publisher-prefixed model names.
The pages include translated embeddings in failover coverage and describe model-ID matching and vector compatibility.
Document API error and stop-sequence behavior docs/{de,pl,zh}/features/passthrough-api.mdx, docs/{de,pl,zh}/advanced/anthropic-messages-api.mdx
The pages distinguish provider-native errors from gateway-formatted errors and document stop-sequence limits across providers.
Document plugin range inputs docs/{de,pl,zh}/advanced/plugins.mdx, pluginapi/manifest.go
The pages and manifest comment describe range-slider defaults and clarify that bounds do not validate stored YAML values.
Roadmap and documentation references
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Update roadmap status and Azure links docs/about/roadmap.mdx, docs/{de,pl,zh}/about/roadmap.mdx, docs/zh/advanced/decisions-api.mdx, docs/zh/advanced/systemone-api.mdx, docs/pl/providers/azure.mdx
The roadmap translations mark the testing-strategy item complete. Chinese Azure links point to the decision-model section, and the Polish Azure page adds an API lifecycle link.
ENTERPILOT/GoModel#1290: The change passes preserved secret values through provider credential upserts, but the summary does not indicate that it adds provider header secret-reference handling.

Reject masked headers that the locked row no longer holds.
This race is pre-existing, but it remains at head. A builder can read secret A, another save can replace the same URL with secret B, and persist can then save stale A.
The current kept-secret check does not prevent this case. It compares values, but not each kept header with the corresponding header in the locked previous row. Validate each kept header by name before writing. Reject the save when the locked row no longer contains the value read by the builder.
Note: this behaviour predates this PR (already present at merge base 7455aaf8761c); the change keeps it reachable.

extra_body.google.thinking_config remains forwarded for Gemma. A request containing an unsupported field such as thinkingBudget can receive HTTP 400. Both user entrypoints normalize the path before the scope check, so /team/alpha/ is denied today. The test does not cover this alias, so a future raw-string comparison regression could leave both entrypoints unprotected by the test.

Update the users root-denial test loop in the handler scope tests to include
`/team/alpha/` alongside the existing outside paths, ensuring the trailing-slash
alias is checked by the same denial assertions.
The new helper combines BASE_PATH handling with automatic HTTPS probe schemes. The workflow tests these settings separately, so a regression that drops the base-path prefix only for HTTPS probes could pass CI.

Add a combined render assertion alongside the existing Helm checks in the
workflow: render with both BASE_PATH and SERVER_TLS_CERT_FILE configured, then
verify both HTTPS probe paths retain the normalized base-path prefix. Keep the
separate TLS and default-scheme checks unchanged.
The current assertions cover only default probe schemes. Add a TLS-enabled render with livenessProbe.httpGet.scheme=HTTP and assert that the explicit HTTP value remains in the output. This tests the helper's documented precedence rule without identifying a current defect.

We couldn't verify this from the code. It is shown for review, not as a verified issue.
Gemma-specific removal runs only after the nonempty-effort check. An explicitly present but empty or whitespace-only reasoning_effort can retain its original unknown JSON field on the compatibility path.
Google's compatibility endpoint may reject the request rather than accepting a request with that field omitted.
This can occur when: A compatibility request for gemma-4-31b-it includes "reasoning_effort":"" or a whitespace-only value.

Addressed in the latest push: entity-specific mask literals in the secret-reference pages (en/de/pl/zh), the Vertex api_mode: anthropic embeddings statement (en/de/pl/zh), the range-step wording (en/de/pl/zh plus the pluginapi comment), the 1 MiB relayed-error-body limit on the passthrough pages (en/de/pl/zh), the Helm README qualifier for probes with an explicit scheme, the /team/alpha/ test case, and the combined BASE_PATH + TLS and explicit-scheme render checks in the Helm workflow. appVersion is pinned to the published 0.1.109 image.
Not changed:
MCP masked-header race (handler_mcpservers.go): pre-existing and unrelated to this fix; the kept-secret check only decides whether a restricted caller may repoint. Serialising MCP upserts the way provider credentials already are is a separate change.
extra_body.google.thinking_config on Gemma: an explicit per-request setting the caller chose to send, and Google accepts some of its members. Only the translated reasoning_effort, which has no valid Gemma mapping, is dropped.
