Summary
Adds .github/workflows/sanitizers.yml, which builds the Catch2 tests target with ASan + UBSan and, separately, with TSan, and runs ctest under each. Follow-up to #462, which came out of a manual sweep with the same tools.
A changes job skips the builds for docs-only PRs. It fails closed: if the gate itself errors, the sanitizer jobs still run.
Each job first builds a tiny program with a deliberate heap overflow (ASan) or data race (TSan) using the same flags, and fails if it does not trip. A green run then means the instrumentation is active.
Fails if ctest registers no tests.
TSan is continue-on-error for now, since the fiber tests are likely to report false positives. It should become blocking once there is a clean baseline.
Triggers: PRs and pushes to nx2 that touch build inputs, a weekly schedule, and manual dispatch.
Summary by CodeRabbit
Chores
Added automated memory-safety checks for relevant pull requests and pushes, with scheduled and manual runs also available.
Checks build and run the test suite and confirm that sanitizer diagnostics are detected as expected.
Pull requests containing only documentation changes skip sanitizer builds; other pull requests run memory and undefined-behavior checks. Scheduled, manual, and push runs also perform concurrency checks.
Concurrency-check failures do not stop the workflow.
It looks like this branch is under active development. To avoid overwhelming you with review comments due to an influx of new commits, CodeRabbit has automatically paused this review. You can configure this behavior by changing the reviews.auto_review.auto_pause_after_reviewed_commits setting.
No actionable comments were generated in the recent review.
Walkthrough
Adds a GitHub Actions workflow that runs sanitizer test builds on selected events. Pull requests that change only Markdown files or docs/ skip sanitizer builds. The workflow checks sanitizer controls, builds the tests target, and runs registered tests.

Summary
Sanitizer selection and test execution .github/workflows/sanitizers.yml, .github/sanitizer-controls/asan.cpp, .github/sanitizer-controls/tsan.cpp
Selects ASan/UBSan for pull requests and adds experimental TSan for other events. The control programs trigger sanitizer diagnostics. The workflow builds the tests target, requires at least one registered test, and runs CTest. TSan failures are allowed to continue; ASan/UBSan failures are not.
Djihads80/Eglantine#462: Adds tests and fixes defects that this workflow exercises under sanitizers.
Djihads80/Eglantine#398: Fixes compilation errors in files included by the tests target that this workflow builds.

Review details
Before / after behavior
observed — Modified behavior in .github/sanitizer-controls/asan.cpp: Adds main, which allocates an array of four integers, reads the element at index c + 4 through a volatile value, and returns 0.
observed — Modified behavior in .github/sanitizer-controls/tsan.cpp: Adds a program with concurrent writes to global g: the spawned thread writes 1, while the main thread writes 2 before joining it; main then returns 0.
observed — Modified behavior in .github/workflows/sanitizers.yml: Adds the complete sanitizer workflow: it selects ASan/UBSan for pull requests and adds experimental TSan for other events, skips pull-request builds only for nonempty changes consisting exclusively of Markdown or docs/ files, and falls back to event-specific matrix definitions if ID generation produces no output. Each job checks that a deliberate bug emits the expected sanitizer diagnostic, configures and builds tests, requires at least one registered test, and runs CTest; only TSan is allowed to fail without failing the job.

- Line 89: Remove job-level continue-on-error from the TSan job so dependency
installation, setup, configuration, compilation, and test registration failures
remain blocking. Scope non-blocking handling to the known fiber-test failures
and report their result separately, preserving the existing TSan build and test
flow.
- Around line 121-124: Update the positive-control flow using `matrix.options`
and `./control` so the control exits successfully when no sanitizer intervenes,
then capture its output and require the expected sanitizer diagnostic to confirm
detection; do not treat an arbitrary nonzero exit as sufficient.
- Around line 10-12: Update the shared path-filter list in the sanitizer
workflow to include changes under .patch/**, alongside the existing
dependency-related entries, so patch-only changes trigger the sanitizer jobs.

…ake uses
The matrix include used fromJSON on the gate job's ids output, which is empty if
checkout fails before the ids step; use the same event-dependent choice as the
fallback. CMakeLists.txt sets CPM_SOURCE_CACHE to .cache/cpm, overriding the
environment variable, so cache that directory instead of .cpm-cache.
…rces by exact key
The TSan control matched the sanitizer name, which a fatal 'unexpected memory mapping'
error also prints. Match the data-race report, in the ids step and the matrix fallback. A
broad restore key could restore dependency sources from before a cpmfile.json change, so key
the CPM cache exactly.
zbic includes zstd.c from a C++ file, so zstd's own declaration of __asan_poison_memory_region
gets C++ linkage and the tests binary fails to link under -fsanitize=address. ZSTD_ASAN_DONT_POISON_WORKSPACE
turns that poisoning off.
