Summary
Adds .github/workflows/dynarmic-tests.yml, which builds and runs dynarmic's own unit tests (dynarmic_tests, about 130 test cases) in CI.
DYNARMIC_TESTS has to be passed explicitly: it defaults to BUILD_TESTING, which the root build forces off.
Builds only the dynarmic_tests target, with ccache, a CPM source cache and the mold linker. Pull requests only read the caches; pushes to nx2 and the weekly run write them.
Prints the runner's AVX-512 features in the log, so it is visible whether the AVX-512 paths ran. Hosted runners often have them.
Runs on PRs and pushes to nx2 that touch src/dynarmic/**, the build files or the workflow, plus weekly and on manual dispatch.
Adds a GitHub Actions workflow that builds and runs Dynarmic unit tests on Ubuntu 24.04. It supports manual, pull request, push, and scheduled runs, and restores and saves ccache and dependency-source caches.

Summary
Workflow triggers and runner setup .github/workflows/dynarmic-tests.yml
Adds manual, pull request, nx2 push, and weekly schedule triggers. Configures job permissions and concurrency, installs dependencies, and reports host CPU details.
Cache restore and build configuration .github/workflows/dynarmic-tests.yml
Restores ccache and dependency sources. Configures a Release Ninja build with Dynarmic tests enabled and the specified feature and dependency options.
Build, test, and cache save .github/workflows/dynarmic-tests.yml
Builds and runs the test executable, failing if no executable is found. Saves ccache and eligible dependency sources on the nx2 ref.
Some build changes can skip validation, and failed dependency setup can affect later CI runs. Address both before merging.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to 52f27
The workflow limits repository permissions and restricts its cache-save steps to nx2. The main concern is bounded to CI integrity: incompletely patched dependency sources can be saved and reused across runs. No path from this cache to release artifacts or production authority was established.
Retained concerns
Low · reliability · inferred: The new persistent source cache can preserve incompletely patched dependencies. A patch failure need not prevent the validity marker from being written; the workflow can then save that tree, and subsequent runs accept the marker without revalidating the source. Exact-hit runs skip saving a repaired cache, limiting automatic recovery. This is a CI source-integrity and failure-containment concern, not a demonstrated attacker-controlled cache-poisoning vulnerability.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The demonstrated persistent-state concern affects dependency reuse by Dynarmic CI runs. The inspected release workflow uses different dependency and compiler-cache keys, so direct propagation through these keys into release builds was not established.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
inferred — Pull-request-controlled build and test code executes on a hosted runner. Read-only repository permissions and nx2-only save conditions constrain the authority configured by this workflow; those save steps do not authorize ordinary pull-request refs to publish trusted-branch caches. No attacker-controlled path across that writer boundary was established.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
observed — Per-ref concurrency grouping cancels superseded pull-request runs but not trusted-branch runs. The dependency save decision is based on ref identity and restore-hit status, not successful dependency preparation or validation.
Hardening Proposals
proposed — Make successful patch application a prerequisite for writing the source-validity marker, publish dependency caches only after validated preparation, and provide an explicit cache invalidation path. A success-only save condition alone would not resolve ignored patch failures.

Explanation
The title "ci: run dynarmic unit tests" matches the main change. The PR adds a GitHub Actions workflow that builds and runs the dynarmic_tests target on pull requests, pushes to nx2, weekly, and on manual dispatch. The title is short, specific, and follows a conventional commit style. It does not cover details such as the AVX-512 reporting, cache handling, or the path filters, which is acceptable for a title.

Propagate patch failures before saving the dependency cache.
Changing always() to success() prevents cache saves after configuration, build, or test failures. It does not handle a failed patch command because CPMUtil.cmake currently ignores that result. The command can leave a source tree with a matching .cpm_patch_key, which later runs reuse.

Update the cache-save condition in the dynarmic-tests workflow to require
successful prior steps, and update the patch application in CPMUtil.cmake to
check execute_process’s result and fail on a nonzero result. Ensure a failed
patch cannot leave a source tree marked with a reusable .cpm_patch_key or be
saved to the dependency cache.

Include externals/cmake-modules/** in the path filter.
CMakeLists.txt adds this directory to CMAKE_MODULE_PATH and loads DetectArchitecture and DetectPlatform from it. Changes there do not match CMakeModules/**, so affected pull requests and nx2 pushes can skip this workflow. Add externals/cmake-modules/** to the shared paths list. (raw.githubusercontent.com)
