Gets Switch 2 Welcome Tour (gsv 1121) booting and rendering correctly.
nx2: gsv 1121 returns a session
shader: lower Ampere TLD4 per-tap offsets
shader: bind and read the descriptor buffer for the array depth comparison TEX
shader: pack TEX FP16 results with the first component in the low half (the scene was yellow because the blue channel was lost)
nx2: relayout decoder frames written before the first GPU query (the "How Rumble Works" slide was sheared)
The debug commits only add env-gated traces (EDEN_NX2_*); nothing changes without them.
Tested on NVIDIA and Intel (ANV).
Assisted-by: Claude Opus 5.5 (debugging, implementation and this PR)
Summary by CodeRabbit
Bug Fixes
Improved handling of decoded video frames before GPU access, including correct color-channel ordering for BGRA images.
Expanded support for texture-gather operations with texel and per-tap offsets, and improved handling of additional texture bindings.
Corrected the ordering of packed half-precision texture results.
Improved error reporting when graphics sessions cannot be created.
Compatibility
Added support for a GSV session command, including its expected token and response behavior.
Welcome Tour's TLD4.PTP carries per-tap offsets: bit 77 of the native
instruction, with the two coordinates in Ra, Ra+1 and the four taps'
packed offsets in Rb, Rb+1. Maxwell TLD4 has the same thing as PTP, so
copy both offset registers to the meta registers and set the offset mode
to 2 instead of rejecting the program (the pixel shader of its first 3D
draw was skipped).
The SDK takes a handle from 1121 and handshakes on it right away. The
zeroed stub reply had no handle, so Welcome Tour aborted with 2001-0114
right after its second present. Return a session that echoes the TIPC 0
token and answers command 11 with 0, as Eden-NS2 does.
The special case for ARRAY_2D depth-compare TEX was written against
binding 2 and rejected every other binding, which skipped the pixel
shaders that sample Welcome Tour's shadow maps. Take the binding from
the instruction instead.
Format 0 is not a Maxwell texture format, so either the handle points at
the wrong entry or the game uses a format the table does not know. The
descriptor words tell the two apart.
…n TEX
A program's texture instructions share one descriptor constant buffer. The
ARRAY_2D depth-compare case rejected a program that also samples through a
second buffer, which skipped every pixel shader that samples Welcome Tour's
shadow maps. Load that instruction's handle from its own buffer and emit
TEX.B, as the general TEX path does.
…format
Welcome Tour's 3D layer comes out with no blue at all while its HUD has
blue, and the scene draws write all four channels into an
A8B8G8R8_SRGB target, so the colour loss is upstream of the blend. The
first 150 texture descriptors now log their format, component types and
channel swizzle, and EDEN_NX2_WINDOW_TRACE prints the render target
format.
Welcome Tour renders its scene below 3840 wide, so the window trace never
showed the scene draws themselves. Trace anything at least 1280 wide and
log the target's size next to its format.
Welcome Tour renders its scene with GPU-driven indirect draws, which
never reached the window trace, so the scene passes and their targets
were invisible. Log them as draw-indirect.
The ISCADD merged the halves as (c0 << 16) + c1, swapping R/G and B/A.
With a three-component mask the high source is RZ, so blue came out as
zero: Welcome Tour's FP16 post-process passes turned the scene yellow.
Assisted-by: Claude Opus 5.5 (debugging and implementation)
A frame decoded before the client's first 428/426 was written
pitch-linear (and BGRA for code 5), but the client then samples it
block-linear. Welcome Tour renders its "How Rumble Works" slide once
from the first frame of the clip, so it came out sheared. Rewrite such
a frame in the GPU layout when the image is first queried, or right
after writing it if the query raced the write.
Assisted-by: Claude Opus 5.5 (debugging and implementation)
The changes update GSV session handling and decoder image layout, Ampere texture lowering, Vulkan render-target tracing, and texture descriptor diagnostics.
Changes: Decoder image layout
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Decoder image state and relayout src/core/hle/service/nx2_gsv.h
Decoder images gain per-image mutex and pending-frame state. Eligible pitch-linear frames are converted to block-linear layout, with BGRA channel swapping and GPU-region invalidation when mapped.
Decoder image access and conversion timing src/core/hle/service/nx2_gsv.h
Write, query, unmap, and destroy operations coordinate through the image mutex. Writes relayout immediately when GPU reads are enabled; queries relayout a pending frame when enabling GPU reads.
Array depth-comparison sampling accepts descriptor bindings below 18 and uses bound or bindless lowering depending on the existing texture buffer.
Rasterizer target tracing
Layer / File(s)
Summary
Render-target trace and guarded reads src/video_core/renderer_vulkan/vk_rasterizer.cpp
Tracing handles pitch-linear target widths, targets at least 1280 pixels wide, and indirect draws. Reads for buffers, TICs, samples, and dumps validate address bounds and mapped ranges.
Later undecodable targets can be missing from an opt-in graphics trace. This is a bounded diagnostic limitation rather than a rendering failure, so the change is mergeable with owner awareness.
Security architecture risk: Low · up to ce2a1
The changes remain within existing guest graphics interfaces. Image locking and guarded diagnostic reads strengthen containment, and the new session uses existing resource limits. No introduced security vulnerability was established, but concurrent teardown behavior and the trust assumptions around optional diagnostic output remain incompletely validated.
Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.
Security review details
Security Blast Radius
inferred — The demonstrated attack surface is guest IPC and graphics input handled by the emulator process. The new session adds a resource-counted guest handle with stubbed operations. Optional tracing can write guest texture data to a host file selected by the process environment; no new guest-selected host destination was demonstrated.
Trust Boundaries and Controls
observed — Guest-controlled trace addresses encounter zero-length, overflow, GPU-address-space and full-mapping checks. Constant-buffer size and texture-header index checks precede dependent reads. The optional dump now validates its complete 4 MiB source range before opening the output file.
observed — Indirect draws newly reach the diagnostic helper. Direct draws and clears already reached the same environment-gated dump sink at the PR base, and its filename already came directly from the local environment. The added caller does not establish a new guest-controlled file-write authority.
Resilience and Maintainability Implications
inferred — Native-memory destruction can still overlap an image operation because it does not take the image mutex. The inspected cleanup removes service metadata and GPU/SMMU mappings, not application process pages. The base already permitted query mapping after memory destruction, so this remaining interleaving is not established as a newly introduced host-memory safety violation.

Explanation
The title "nx2: Welcome Tour fixes" is partially related to the changeset. The PR targets the Switch 2 Welcome Tour (gsv 1121) and fixes several issues to make it boot and render. However, the title is broad and does not name the specific changes, such as the new nx2 gsv 1121 session, the Ampere TLD4 lowering fixes, the descriptor buffer binding, or the decoder frame relayout. It is not vague or generic, and it does not describe unrelated work.

Use pixel width for pitch-linear targets.
regs.rt[0].width is a byte pitch for pitch-linear render targets. Derive the pixel width with the target format's BytesPerBlock value before applying the 1280-pixel filter and logging the dimensions. Make the array-depth test check emitted form counts, not only presence.
The assertions in ampere_lowering.cpp:223-225 pass when any matching word exists. FindMaxwell returns the first match, and the 0xde check at shift 56 merges the 0xde00, 0xde80, and 0xdec0 forms. A change that emits an extra sample form, or the wrong form, can still pass this test.
Use the existing CountMaxwell helper with a wider opcode shift, and assert the expected count for each form. Keep the required_texture_buffer check.

Use a one-word raw result for the TIPC success reply in OpenSession1121.
OpenSession1121 handles TIPC command 1121. Its success path writes the result with rb.Push(ResultSuccess), which is the CMIF two-word result. TipcReplyWords and the TIPC failure path in this file write a one-word raw result instead. Log undecodable pitch-linear targets before the trace returns.
When TryPixelFormatFromRenderTargetFormat cannot decode a pitch-linear rt[0] format, TraceWindowTarget returns before its LOG_INFO. The trace then omits the raw format and dimensions. The renderer still processes that target: PixelFormatFromRenderTargetFormat falls back to A8B8G8R8_UNORM, and the pipeline and rasterizer code use that decoder. The window trace can therefore miss a target that is rendered.
Log the raw format and dimensions before returning. Each draw that uses such a target writes one line while tracing is enabled.

606 - 607:
Update TraceWindowTarget so when TryPixelFormatFromRenderTargetFormat cannot
decode the pitch-linear rt[0] format, it logs the raw format and target
dimensions before returning. Preserve the existing return behavior and ensure
the log occurs once per draw while tracing is enabled.

Assert the ISCADD operand order in the half-result test.
The test checks only the four conversion source registers. It does not check the ISCADD at lower_to_maxwell.h:2583 that merges the halves. That ISCADD uses op_a = 247 for the high half and op_b = 246 for the low half. If these operands were swapped, every assertion would still pass, but the packed result would have the components in the wrong halves. Add assertions for the merge operands.

Review comment at @src/tests/video_core/ampere_lowering.cpp at line 501:
Extend the half-result test that checks `conversions` to inspect
`lowered.instructions` for the ISCADD merge: assert its high-half operand is 247
and low-half operand is 246, and reject the reversed order. Identify the merge
by its instruction encoding so unrelated instructions do not satisfy the
assertion.

A frame decoded before the client's first 428/426 was written
pitch-linear (and BGRA for code 5), but the client then samples it
block-linear. Welcome Tour renders its "How Rumble Works" slide once
from the first frame of the clip, so it came out sheared. Rewrite such
a frame in the GPU layout when the image is first queried, or right
after writing it if the query raced the write.

per-image decoder mutex in nx2_gsv.h, which closes the race the review
found between the relayout in 428/426 and the decoder worker writing or
the client destroying the same image. Dropped: the CreateRawSession
error handling and gsv 1121 session (nx2 has its own gpu_time session),
the TLD4 register checks (nx2 lowers per-tap offsets its own way), and
the debug trace changes. Adapted: WriteImage takes the image lock only
when the image has one and keeps nx2's "write skipped ... destroyed"
trace; DestroyNativeImage keeps its destroy trace before the lock.

Gets Switch 2 Welcome Tour (gsv 1121) booting and rendering correctly.
The debug commits only add env-gated traces (EDEN_NX2_*); nothing changes without them.
Tested on NVIDIA and Intel (ANV).
