Makes nvidia/Qwen3.8-Flash-Next-FP4-Local @ b9ce18a6 (95 GiB) the default checkpoint, served by Enntity/atlas sparkqwen/atlas-20261016-fp4local @ 9f64bf6b. The NVFP4 checkpoint stays available through CHECKPOINT_REPO/CHECKPOINT_REVISION in .env, on the same image.

Engine: the FP4-Local series on the sparkqwen layer:

  • lossless CSF block-scale decoder;
  • MXFP8 decode from the checkpoint's bytes;
  • W8A8 MXFP8 prefill through in-order cuBLASLt kernels;
  • packed, checksummed NVFP4 PLE table per node (~/.cache/atlas-ple);
  • native NVFP4 MTP experts.

Install:

  • checkpoint.json pins FP4-Local.
  • start-node.sh takes --checkpoint and --ple-cache.
  • The profiles set ATLAS_PLE_PACKED_DIR.
  • .env can name another checkpoint (both values or neither).
  • The image tag is 4618128c570b.

Verified through the release image: ./start.sh in a fresh clone on our pair:

  • built the image from source; its build-time tests passed;
  • served it and answered the smoke question;
  • prompt logprobs bit for bit with the measured dev binary;
  • tool calling 21/21;
  • RigMark 9/9.

RigMark on the release image vs RC16 on NVFP4 (published):

FP4-Local RC16 on NVFP4
Decode, code / prose / structured (tok/s) 96.5 / 57.1 / 104.4 86.6 / 51.8 / 98.9
Cold 16K prefill (tok/s) 4,190 4,043
C1 / C2 / C4 / C8 (tok/s) 69.5 / 110.4 / 188.4 / 290.3 61.7 / 98.6 / 166.2 / 260.1

The full cards are in results/2026-10-16-fp4local/raw/recipe/ and raw/rigmark/, linked from the README.

Quality:

  • NVIDIA's card against BF16: GPQA Diamond 91.5 vs 92.2, ToolEvalBench 88.7 vs 89.4.
  • Our quality probe: 40/40 and 12/12.
  • Exactness gates pass.
  • W8A8 vs BF16 prefill teacher-forced NLL: +0.0008 nats/token.

Not covered:

  • sparkDash and the 77K needle;
  • concurrent agent conversations;
  • 4x262k and the 0.70 sidecar share;
  • image prompts on FP4-Local's vision tower;
  • a fresh download through ./start.sh;
  • a fully cold image build.

The GHCR image is not published yet, so ./start.sh builds from source until it is.

Pin nvidia/Qwen3.8-Flash-Next-FP4-Local @ b9ce18a6 (95.1 GiB) and the
engine sparkqwen/atlas-20261016-fp4local @ a8976e86 (tree 6a37ba6b).
start-node.sh takes --checkpoint (start.sh passes the pinned one, or the
checkpoint .env names) and mounts a persistent --ple-cache at /atlas-ple,
where every profile points ATLAS_PLE_PACKED_DIR.

The README leads with FP4-Local against the published RC16 numbers on the
NVFP4 checkpoint, adds a Quality section (NVIDIA's evaluation, our probes,
exactness, the W8A8-prefill NLL check, what is not measured) and how to
choose a checkpoint; the NVFP4-era vLLM table moves out of the README.
results/2026-10-16-fp4local holds the RigMark cards and receipts, sq_bench
and the gates. bench/nll_probe.py is the NLL driver those results cite.

The build-time tests in a release image compile spark-model's lib tests,
and a8976e86 embedded a bench/ fixture the build context leaves out.
9f64bf6b reads it at run time; the serving code is unchanged.

./start.sh in a fresh clone built ghcr.io/enntity/atlas-sparkqwen:4618128c570b
from source, served and answered its smoke question. On that image: the
dev binary's prompt-logprob hash bit for bit, tool calling 21/21, and
RigMark 9/9 (card raw/recipe/rigmark-FP4L.card.txt). The README links the
full RigMark cards for the release image, the final dev run and RC16.
