Basics

  • Q: What is the max supply cap for ERA?

    • A: ERA has a maximum supply of 240 million coins. (240,000,000)
  • Q: What is the average block time?

    • A: ERA has a target block time of 45 seconds.
  • Q: What PoW Algorithm does ERA use?

    • A: ERA uses the HMQ1725 algorithm.

Staking

  • Q: What is staking?

    • A: Staking is a replacement or complementary system to proof of work, Staking is the process your wallet uses to validate transactions and award you with coins. When your wallet is staking, it is checking transactions to make sure everyone who sends coins actually owned those coins and had the right to transfer them. If your wallet completes a stake attempt you will be rewarded 10 ERA as compensation for securing the network. Note: a small 2% fee is taken from every stake reward and sent to the ERA community fund where the team uses those coins to get added to new exchanges and support new developments.
  • Q: How do i stake?

    • A: Once a coin has matured to 50 block confirmations, equivalent to ~30min, your wallet will begin to stake. From there you just need to wait and eventually you will get a stake reward.
  • Q: How do i know if i'm staking?

    • A: From within the wallet you can verify if your wallet is staking by checking the small icon on the bottom left of the wallet as seen below.

Not Staking:

  • Q: What is the Staking reward?

    • A: As a reward for your wallet being used to verify a block on the network, you are rewarded 10 ERA coins.
  • Q: What is the benefits of staking over proof of work?

    • A: Staking systems are far more energy efficient than proof of work, you could run a staking wallet on a raspberry pi.
  • Q: Is there a minimum amount of coins to stake?

    • A: Short answer, no. Long answer, it depends, staking acts like a lottery system so the more coins you have the more likely you are to win a stake.
  • Q: Does my computer have to be left turned on in order to stake?

    • A: Yes, your computer must be on and active (if its asleep it wont stake).
  • Q: Why are my PoS rewards showing “Generated but not accepted”?

    • A: The stake process acts like a lottery, what this occasionally results in is the wallet software attempting to validate the next block at the same time as another person, but only one wallet will be successful at validating the block; the wallet not chosen will display a "generated but not accepted" message, simply continue to stake and eventually your wallet will validate a future block.

Mining

  • Q:What is the mining block reward?

    • A: The block reward is 10 ERA
  • Q: The PoW reward is the same as the staking reward, why bother to mine?

    • A: Honestly, what else are you going to do with that 1000$ GPU. Or maybe you just hate the environment?
  • Q: How do I get started mining?

    • A: Download ccminer or sgminer respectively, pick an ERA pool, input the pool into the miner config and a way you go.
  • Q: I'm using a Mac, can I still mine?

    • A: Totally! You will just use a mac specific mining program.
  • Q: I got banned from my mining pool. Why?

    • A: If you submit lots of invalid shares, a pool might ban you. Possible reasons for invalid shares can be your hardware getting overworked, high ping to the pool, or your difficulty being set too low. You should get unbanned after approximately 20 minutes.
  • Q: Why is the hashrate on the pool website different to what is shown in my miner?

    • A: The values will always be slightly different, but if there is a large difference, it is likely you have just started mining. Your hashrate is calculated over time, and so it will slowly go up to the correct level.
  • Q: I've been mining, but the balance in my wallet hasn't gone up?

    • A: To save you money on fees, the pools send payouts in chunks. Check your pool website for your pending balance.

Miscellaneous

  • Q: Is it safe to store coins on an exchange?

    • A: While many exchange sites are reliable, the age old saying in blockchain always holds true, if you don't own your private keys you don't own your coins. Don't want to download the blockchain? no worries you can always use our web wallet or generate a paper wallet (paper wallet generator comming soon).
  • Q: Where can I see my transactions?

    • A: You can check your transactions on the web explorer.
  • Q: I have a question which wasn't answered here, what should I do?

  • Q: When i download your wallet, windows defender quarantined it as a virus, whats going on?

    • A: For some users, windows has flagged ERA.exe as a Trojan; This is a false positive report from Windows Defender. We are working currently to figure out why this is occurring for a small subset of users, if you'd like to see a 3rd party virus scan of the wallet file click this link.
