Creating a simple IC application
First things first - we need to think of what we want to create. Let's start off with a really basic application allowing users to get IC user data. Classes used in this guide: User
What do we need the user to input?
A name / ID to search for.
What information do we want to return?
The user's followers
Amount of maps they've created
Their ID
The result looks like this:
importintersectionname=input("Enter the name you want to search for... ")
users=intersection.user.search_for_users(result=5, query=name)
foruserinusers:
ifuser.name==name:
print(f"Name: {user.name},\nFollowers: {user.followers},\nMaps: {user.maps},\nID: {user.objectId}")
break
Let's name the file example.py or whatever else you wish to but remember to replace the name with yours everywhere it appears.
There are a few things that should clarified before we move further:
The first line imports the library. If it doesn't work head over to the Downloads section.
Then we're asking the user to input the name we will later search for.
The third line is where we are getting the information using user.search_for_users(). result specifies the amount of results and query specifies what we are searching for.
After that we're iterating through each user, checking whether their name matches what we searched for and if it does we print the info and break out of the loop. Note that user.search_for_users() doesn't return the users ordered based on how good their name reflects what we searched for.
Now that we've made the app, we need to run it. To do that just run the following command:
