🚨 Severity: CRITICAL
💡 Vulnerability: A hardcoded string (
'your-secret-key-change-this') was being used as a fallback for the JWT signing secret.🎯 Impact: In production environments where
NEXTAUTH_SECRETis misconfigured or missing, attackers could easily forge JWT tokens and completely bypass authentication or impersonate any user.🔧 Fix: Removed the hardcoded fallback. Now, the application fails securely in production by throwing a critical error if the secret is missing. In development, it generates a robust, secure random byte string.
✅ Verification: Build, lint, and type checking were run and verified not to introduce any new errors. Code review passed. Note: build fails due to a pre-existing missing module.
