A complete Mixxx controller mapping for the Reloop Ready, including the things that usually get left out: RGB pad colours, all eight performance pad modes, both hardware modifier layers, jog scratching, and LED feedback that is correct the moment Mixxx starts.
Mixxx ships no mapping for this controller. This one was built by measuring what the hardware actually sends — the manual does not publish its MIDI implementation — and it is in daily use.
Copy both files into your Mixxx controller mappings folder:
| OS | Folder |
|---|---|
| Windows | %LOCALAPPDATA%\Mixxx\controllers\ |
| macOS | ~/Library/Application Support/Mixxx/controllers/ |
| Linux | ~/.mixxx/controllers/ |
Reloop-Ready.midi.xml
Reloop-Ready-scripts.js
Then restart Mixxx — it reads mappings once at startup — and go to Preferences → Controllers, select Reloop Ready, choose the Reloop Ready mapping, and enable it.
Deck A drives [Channel1], deck B [Channel2].
| Control | Base | SHIFT |
|---|---|---|
| Gain, High, Low | pregain, EQ high/low | — |
| Filter | QuickEffect super knob | — |
| Line fader, crossfader | volume, crossfader | — |
| Pitch fader | rate (14-bit, full travel) | — |
| PLAY | play | censor |
| CUE | cue | jump to start |
| SYNC | sync | quantize |
| LOAD | load track | clone other deck |
| KEY LOCK | keylock | key sync |
| VINYL | arm jog platter for scratch | slip mode |
| Headphone CUE | pfl | — |
| Master Vol / Cue Vol | master gain / headphone gain (soft takeover) | — |
| Cue Mix | headphone mix | — |
The rim nudges playback. Press VINYL — it lights — and touching the platter scratches; release and it stops. SHIFT + rim seeks through the track.
The encoder moves through the library; press to load. SHIFT + press moves focus to the sidebar, after which the encoder walks the folder tree and SHIFT + turn expands and collapses it.
Hold MODE and press a pad to choose a mode, exactly as on the hardware:
| Pad | Mode | What the pads do |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Hot Cue | 8 hot cues; SHIFT clears |
| 2 | Auto Loop | row 1 sets a loop (1/2/4/8 beats), row 2 moves and resizes it |
| 3 | Manual Loop | in, out, reloop, reloop+stop; row 2 moves and resizes |
| 4 | Sampler | fires samplers 1–8; SHIFT stops one |
| 5 | Pitch Play | selects and lights, but inert — see below |
| 6 | Scratch Bank | selects and lights, but inert — see below |
| 7 | Loop Roll | row 1 rolls 1/8–1 beat while held, row 2 beat-jumps |
| 8 | Beat Grid | adjusts the beat grid |
Parameter ◀ ▶ beat-jumps; with SHIFT it halves and doubles the jump distance.
The pads are RGB, and colour carries two pieces of information at once:
hue and level say what a pad does · brightness says whether it is engaged
So in Auto Loop the four loop lengths shade from dark to bright green, the utilities beside them sit in a different hue, and whichever loop is running is the one lit brightly. Within a row, pads doing different kinds of work differ in hue — in Auto Loop's second row the outer pair moves the loop and the inner pair resizes it.
Hot Cue mode takes its colours from Mixxx: each pad shows that cue's own colour from the waveform, and empty cues sit dim.
Pitch Play and Scratch Bank select and light, but do nothing. Pitch Play needs key-shifted cue playback and Scratch Bank loads library files onto a deck; Mixxx exposes neither. They are kept so the mode wheel still matches the panel legends rather than silently skipping two modes.
The MODE button LEDs cannot be controlled. They are driven by the controller's firmware — permanently lit, brightening on press — and ignore anything sent to them.
Soft takeover on Master Vol and Cue Vol. Those knobs are physical, so their
position will not match Mixxx when a session starts. They do nothing until you
turn past the current value, which is deliberate: these are ±14 dB controls and
a jump on first touch is loud. Remove <soft-takeover/> from those two entries
in the XML if you would rather they grab immediately.
Built with mapping-studio, which maps a controller by showing you a drawing of its panel: click a control, move the real one, and the binding is captured. LEDs work the other way — it lights one and you click whichever region lit up.
profile/reloop-ready.json is the source of truth. It holds the panel geometry
in millimetres, every captured binding across all three layers, and the Mixxx
targets, kept separate so that changing your mind about what a button does never
costs you the measurement of what it sends. Both files here are generated from
it.
docs/protocol.md is the MIDI reference: every message the
controller sends, the RGB encoding, and the two behaviours most likely to catch
out anyone writing their own mapping. Useful even if you do not use Mixxx.
docs/upstreaming.md covers what would be needed to
submit this to Mixxx itself.
GPL-2.0-or-later, matching Mixxx, so it can be contributed upstream without friction. See LICENSE.
