Hi, I'm Harshit

I work where finance meets data. I hold an MSc in Business Analytics and Consultancy from Heriot-Watt University (Dubai, 2026), and I'm working in compliance and consulting at Marmin on UAE e-invoicing and VAT.

My background runs across audit, retail banking, and investment operations. I'm aiming for equity research, corporate finance, and analytics roles, with a focus on the UAE, the wider GCC, and India.

Selected work

Search-induced overfitting: MSc dissertation A controlled study of 136,080 backtests on 30 US stocks. The best strategy from each search averaged a Sharpe ratio of 0.76 on the data it was picked on, and 0.26 on unseen data. Only 5 of 30 survived a multiple-testing correction, only 8 beat buy-and-hold, and none did both. The damage grows as stocks get smaller. Includes a five-step checklist for judging any backtest.

ADNOC Drilling equity research A full valuation built from the company's own filings, blending DCF, dividend discount, and peer multiples. HOLD rating, with the reasoning behind it laid out in full.

crypto-monitor An automated data pipeline that pulls daily crypto prices, stores them in Git, and feeds a live dashboard. Python, GitHub Actions, Chart.js.
