Platform & Infrastructure Engineer · Linux · Automation · Applied AI
Hi! I'm Alexander Solovov, Head of Platform & Infrastructure at Algous Studio. I lead the infrastructure function while remaining hands-on with architecture, operations, automation, internal services, and incident response.
I design and operate Linux-based on-prem infrastructure for a VFX production environment spanning 57+ hosts, around 1 PB of raw storage, 10/40 GbE networking, centralized IAM, virtualization, monitoring, and production services.
What I work on:
• Linux platforms: Debian, Ubuntu, Proxmox VE, ZFS, NFS, RAID, and Docker
• Automation and delivery: Ansible, PXE provisioning, Python tooling, and GitLab CI/CD
• Networking and IAM: MikroTik, nftables, OpenLDAP, and policy-based routing
• Observability and reliability: Zabbix, Grafana, Prometheus, backups, and incident response
• Internal services and applied AI: FastAPI, PostgreSQL, n8n, Ollama, and local LLM agents
Featured project: AI Helpdesk Automation — a production-deployed local LLM agent with safe tool calling, infrastructure integrations, and reproducible evaluation.
I hold a BSc in Computer Science and Engineering from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University. My thesis focused on automating IT support in a VFX production studio and was deployed in the studio's production environment.
