sswipe

A swipe-typing on-screen keyboard for Windows — glide across the letters and it types the word into whatever app has focus.

sswipe demo — swipe-typing into Notepad

What it is

sswipe is a floating, always-on-top desktop keyboard. Trace a path across the letters (Gboard-style "glide typing") and it decodes the word and injects it into the focused app via the Win32 SendInput API — without ever stealing focus. It also works as a full desktop keyboard: number row, punctuation, Tab/Caps/Shift/Enter, Ctrl/Win/Alt, a navigation cluster, and press-and-hold key repeat.

Features

  • ✍️ Swipe typing — SHARK²/$1-style path matching against a ~50k-word dictionary, with a tap-to-correct suggestion bar and common contractions (swipe isnt → "isn't").
  • ⌨️ Full desktop layout — function row, numbers/symbols, Shift+chords (Shift+arrows to select), smart punctuation, auto-capitalization, and Win-key shortcuts.
  • 🪟 Floating & non-intrusive — frameless, always-on-top, drag to move, drag any edge to resize, minimize to the system tray.
  • 🎯 Types into any app — Notepad, browsers, editors… (non-elevated windows).

Is sswipe safe?

Built to be trustworthy by design — and you don't have to take my word for it:

  • Open source. Every line is in this repo. Read it, or build it yourself with flutter build windows.
  • No keylogging. sswipe injects the words you swipe into the focused app (Win32 SendInput). It does not hook, read, record, or capture anything you or anyone types — there is no keyboard hook anywhere in the code.
  • 100% offline, no telemetry. It makes no network requests and sends no data anywhere. The only outbound action is opening a link in your browser when you tap a Donate/social button.
  • Verifiable builds. Releases are built by GitHub Actions from this source, so the published binary matches the public code, and each release includes a SHA‑256 checksum you can verify.

About the SmartScreen prompt: the app isn't code‑signed yet, so Windows may show "Windows protected your PC." Click More info → Run anyway. Some antivirus engines also heuristically flag any keystroke‑injecting app — those are false positives; feel free to scan the download on VirusTotal.

Run / build

flutter run -d windows # dev
flutter build windows --release # release -> build\windows\x64\runner\Release\

Requires Visual Studio with the Desktop development with C++ workload.
